Hello friends,

I have gotten an offer to buy a set of parts from a 1992 GSXR-1100, including rear rim, "almost new" Pilot Road III 2 ct, brake disc, brake parts and axle.
It is a breaker that is selling the parts, and they want $400 for everything.

Here are some pics they sent me:

Should I go for it you think? Price might be a bit steep, but I think it's still cheap being in Sweden...

What do you guys think?

Nat

If I were you I would go for it!
The pricerange between Sweden and Norway is not that big, and I would consider that price as cheap!

Not a huge deal, but I don't see the brake stay.  He must have it.  You're going to need one.

Nat, regarding:

The FZR rim looks nice, but you probably allready know this, but shipping from Germany is often very expensive. At least to Norway.
Haven't seen a rim for less then 150 euros in shipping. I would guess the price would be the same to Sweden? If not the great!  :good2:

I bought mine from the UK, but shipping would also bee cheaper from US and other EU country's.

Cheers

Do they allow you to bring /send it back if it doesn't spin straight. It looks like the bearing is out in the picture. It would be odd if they took it out. If they did...  So you can't spin it on an axle to see if it spins straight

Looks pretty complete. As mention no brake stay / tension rod. I see the center spacer but no left or right spacer. Might be in the box, I just can't see them.  It is strange why they pulled the left bearing. Maybe they are stripping it for e bay. Most of the wheels there are stripped. Is local so you can inspect it. Would be nice to see a picture of the right side also. In real terms the price is about average considering all the misc. stuff you would need to buy if you had a stripped wheel. There is also value to the tire.
If you get it and if you need to buy the spacers let me know I have some information on combinations. The tire will be fatter but smaller in diameter so be aware of that.

They sent me some more photos of the tire:

He had the brake stay arm as well:

Thank you for the links, Fred. I do have a FZR rim and 89+ forks, but haven't installed them yet.
I'll get the sprocket!  :good2:

Okay, I ordered the parts, I will be waiting eagerly for them to show up!

THANK YOU everybody for your help in this.

I already have a Penske shock on the bike, so this will be the icing on the cake.  :good2:

Now I'll start looking for suitable spacers...

Do you know what spacers are coming with the wheel ? There are 4 of them. Left outer, cush hub spacer, center spacer, and right side spacer.

Give some thought to what size of rear sprocket you want to use. You have to get a GSXR 750 rear sprocket. The GSXR 1100's use a odd ball chain size. 525 I think. The 750's use a 530 chain. The rear tire you will end up with (170 or 180) will be slightly smaller in diameter (wider but lower profile) so put that into your equation.

I installed a Michelin 180 55 17 with a 38t rear sprocket and 18t front. The rear tire clears the chain by 6.35 mm with the tire dead center. I am not saying what is right or wrong, just what I did. Choose the ratio's and tire size that you want to use.
