Bought and fitted me a handle mounted say nav holder.  Will use going into central London tomorrow.  Will let you know how it works.  I am gonna use to hold my iPhone 4S which has my sat nav on it.  But it will easily hold any sat nav type device!

A life has been well lived, if you have planted trees under who's shade you do not expect to sit.

I'm told I'm cynical, pessimistic and generally miserable. I say that I'm realistic! The fact that reality sucks is not my fault!

Wow!  I bought one almost identical from Aldi's supermarket for A$10 a few months ago.  Shop around.

Ok quick bit of feedback.  Most over riding point is that it sits too low to be a safe option long term for round town stuff.  Because it wants to sit were the key is ends up being between the top of the tank and bottom of the 'yoke'.  The net result is that you are constantly looking down taking your eyes of the road and in central London that basically equals....well put it this way not good!!

On the upside I had the chance to test the water proofing as it pissed down the whole way there and back and it was very good no ingress at all.  It was held fast and didn't bounce about and the device inside was held a secured well too.

On the down side you can't press buttons with out removing the sat nav device so course adjustments involving pulling over and taking it all apart, NOT GOOD.  If your device has a silicon runner outer it is a bitch to get it in and out and if there are any buttons which stick out they will get knocked and reset things, again not good.

In short ok as a quick fix or on one off journeys but not a long term solution!

Nurse,

You've got a '92 from the pic.  Did you guys get the "letterbox" screen?  If so, you could glue some Velcro to the top inside edge of the screen and to the GPS holder.  You'll probably also have to fit some kind of standoff or wedge to get the angle right.
This is a much better place to have your GPS, if you actually watch the screen.  I don't.
I find that I'm much better just listening to the directions and not trying to re-focus (age) or look away from the road.  And if you're not watching the screen, you can keep the GPS unit in a pocket of your jacket and just run the earphone lead up to your head.
