Interesting.

This sort of thing is happening more and more frequently, it seems.

Yea, that's disturbing, I'm glad you and your family are all right. Some of those rounds can go thru walls.

The silver lining is that at least the SWAT team got the right house...it's been known to happen... :ireful:

Yeh, Spud, losin sleep's a bitch.  But wasn't it worth all the attention you got at work the next day tellin the story?  Nothin like that ever happens around Shreve.  Hell, if it did I'd be out there with my 22-250 offering my assistance.  I can head-shoot a ground hog at 300 yards.  Amish beard cuttings are big news around here.  The front page headline in the local paper the other day was "Attic burns - two turtles die".  Hopefully that's not a common occurence in your 'hood.  If it is, I can fix you up with some body armor.  As for Shreve, we could do with a little more action.

trust me maddison nh never has this stuff just dui's we are all fine as for "phil" (the name the cops were yelling out) he got his ass tear gassed, still dont know what he did but an 11 hour stand off with 3.5 hrs of gun fire has some jail time to it, i was hoping to wake up and see snipers on my porch but that didnt happen  :dash2:  i was ready though if he came up this way (plenty of guns here) just annoyed as to why its not on the news and what he did to get this treatment... in the end lots of tax dollars down the drain for one idiot i think they should have gassed him an hr in and drag his ass out of there.

holy dooley batman..... never ever had that stuff over here. thats pretty wild.... the amish thing? call me wierd but i did get a bit of a chuckle out of the "gang" of amish that went on a beard shaving spree using horse clippers and battery powered shears.... I understand the principles of holiness and length of beard being devotion to god and  but it was just the battery powered shears that made me grin a bit.....

Naw, you aren't wierd.  The whole Amish ordeal is.  One of the beard cutting/hair cutting incidents happened just  a few miles south of me to a bishop and his wife.  Sam Mullet and his Amish Mafia were tried in federal court on hate crime charges and will be serving 15-20 years for posing as barbers without a license.  Oh...as far as the turtles, the headline the next day was "Turtles found alive and well". There was a picture of a teenage boy and his mom holding two big ass turtles.  They (the boy and his mom - not the turtles) looked very happy.  I can understand, though...they lost their home and most of what they own but the turtles are OK.  Enough of this though. Back to Matt and his crazy neighbor Phil.

where i live there is mostly older people and and rich prissy out of staters that rent houses (most of the houses are rentals and some summer homes) and then a few ass holes (like phil and last summer some drug dealer.... we kinda ran out the the neighbor hoods)
up until this big event i was the worst thing to happen to this place (loud motorcycles and cars and ohh my atv they just love me ripping around on it   :blum1:) now i look good to the community  :good2:

So have you heard what Phil's major malfunction was yet?  Did he cut his wife's beard, burn his neighbor's turtle?  What?  I'm dyin' to know.

Right from the Conway Daily Sun:
Man arrested following 12-hour standoff in Madison

MADISON — Phillip Mugford, 25, of Revere, Mass., was arrested by the New Hampshire State Police SpecialWeapons and Tactics Unit after a 12-hour standoff that ensued when he barricaded himself at the residence of an acquaintance at 13 Burgdorf Drive in Madison.

The investigation began shortly after midnight on Tuesday, March 12, when policewerecalledtothesameaddressfor an alleged assault. Troopers responded, and, after a brief investigation, took an adult female into protective custody for acute alcohol intoxication. Simultaneously, probable cause was developed for the arrest of Mugford for his allegedly having assaulted that female. The victim was uncooperative with troopers and refused to give a statement. She was subsequently taken to Carroll County Jail, and released in the earlymorning hours. From the early morning through Tuesday afternoon, a joint investigation by Madison Police Department and New Hampshire State Police into Mugford's conduct and whereabouts led to probable cause that he had committed felony second-degree assault, simple assault and criminal threatening. Police believed that Mugford was at the Burgdorf Drive residence. At approximately 4 p.m., several officers from the towns of Madison, Freedom, and State Police Troops E and G converged on and surrounded the residence, at which point warrants were in effect for Mugford's arrest. According to a State Police press release, Mugford was initially 'responsive to contact by means of telephone and public address,' but he refused to come out and submit to arrest.

The New Hampshire State Police SWAT Unit was activated and responded to the residence, assuming responsibility for the scene. Negotiations were initially unsuccessful, but Mugford did eventually surrender, being taken into custody shortly after 4 a.m. on Wednesday. He was arraigned in the Third Circuit Court, District Division, in Conway on Wednesday, and bail was set at $50,000 cash or $75,000 corporate surety. In addition to the other charges, he was charged with resisting arrest for his extended refusal to surrender. As of Wednesday evening, he was still being held at Carroll County Jail.

it does not mention the shooting or that they used tear gas (or some type of concusion grande) to bring him out (i guess the shooting and the dogs barking is supposed to be some tactic shit.

Fun times!

At least no one is setting off explosives down the hill from you.  :)  Sirens woke me up last night.

QuotePORTLAND, Ore. - Crews working on the Sellwood Bridge project will begin blasting rocks Wednesday night and that might jolt some folks who live nearby.  The blasting is part of the process to excavate the hill on the west side of Highway 43. Project managers say blasting is the only safe way to remove the rocks that are underground.

"They drill through dirt and then into the rock," said Pullen. "So there's not a whole lot of debris that we expect to be flying onto the highway. But we do close the highway and bridge for five to 20 minutes at the time of the blast."

You can expect two or three explosions a night (between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m.), three nights a week for the next month.

Why is this being done at night? The answer is simple - so it won't impact daytime traffic.

Crews will sound a siren leading up to each blast and the noise from that will be louder than the actual explosion.
