Can anyone tell me where the fairing bolts are located? I have read my clymer manual till it is just about worn out and they don't show where they are. I need to take it off for some spring work, also doe's anyone have a good way of removing the screws from the switch gear without damaging anything, they are corroded in and won't come out. Thanks for any and all help, Big R :flag_of_truce: :dash2:

Off the top of my head..... there are 2 bolts underneath the fairing, above the fender, 2 bolts under each air scoop, one forward and one aft. 2 bolts under the windscreen, and a bolt on the left and right, inside the fairing forward and slightly below the instrument panel.

Two bolts on either side of the headlight, facing forward. You need to come in from underneath the fairing. Helpful to remove the horn and horn mount, if you have hefty forearms!

Good luck on the switch screws. Possibly use an impact driver? Prepare to drill with left-handed bits if necessary.

The bolts that are on each side of the headlight are the hardest to reach.  It's one of those scenarios where you can look at them or you can reach down and get them with a socket, but not at the same time.  Taking your tank off will help. And grab a flashlight.  You'll need a ratchet with a 6" or 8" extension and I'm guessing a 12mm socket.  Maybe a 10mm?

Thanks guys. That helps alot Took the clutch slave off yesterday and the seal is pooched. Was going to buy a new slave but this one is in great shape. No corrosion inside and not all that grungy. Going to rebuild the clutch and the brake master as well, soon to be ordering parts from Randy. The weather is starting to change here and it's starting to warm up. I am getting the itch and need to feel the kookaloo. Later men, I am off to bed as I have to get up at 10:00 tonite to go work. I hate nite shift. Big R

Careful that the headlight doesn't fall out when you remove the fairing.

I usually run a ziptie through each bolt hole until I'm ready to bolt the fairing back on.

as i have a fiberglass fairing im not sure how difficult yours is to take apart, but i take the screen off and gauges/cover out and can get to the headlight bolts easily,  once the tank, fairing panels, ect have been re,located
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

I had my fairing off just about every other weekend chasing vibrations, until I discovered the engine mount fix. I could do it in my sleep but it was still a pain the arse.

Then, like the revelation that is the engine mount fix itself, I discovered an easy way to remove it.

Just undo these four bolts and the whole thing comes away with headlight, instruments, mirrors, screen, everything.

You have to disconnect the wiring but that's not a problem because all the terminal blocks are a different size and shape and can't be mixed up, then it just comes away cleanly.

It also minimises the risk of damaging those plastic mounting tabs on the fairing.

Couldn't be easier.

Is those two fairing mounts by the headlight important or necessary to have?
I just bought a new fairing in fiberglass and none of the 4 fairing mounts are casted om the fairing and I will have to make them myself.
Whant to check out my photos on the bike??
