Questioning peoples methods!

I really have to question people's methods! The guy who I bought my FJ from was supposably anal about how the bike looked etc. what I can't understand is he had the tank repainted  complete with all the original decals on it,( because of a bird shit stain). It  looks superb to. Then he supaglues  a protective tank pad on to it. What a tool!  Obviously he never thought it would ever need to be replaced. It looked a bit knackered so I gently removed it, only to find that the bloody things not only had double sided tape on it but also f#€king supaglue as well. Spent hours trying to gently remove it. Got about 80% off and had to flatten the rest as best possible. Got a small chip in the paint now! ( very  F##ked off now)  Now I've got to find a tank pad  that will cover it. Bloody marvelous.

Acetone dissolves superglue very quickly, and for short exposures will not harm the paint. Wipe a little let dry, wipe a little let dry. as long as the acetone does not sit as a liquid for long periods on the paint, it works wonders on crap stuck to the paint. It also removes any applied protective finishes like waxes so reapply after. Keep acetone well away from unpainted plastic, to be safe I don't even use it on painted plastic. As for the double side tape try some of the citrus based goo removers like Goo Gone or Goof Off, they work well on many adhesives that don't clean up from water based removers, also quite safe on painted surfaces.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.
