Had some issues with fitting my springs and race tech valves!  Valves went in fine but springs are way out!  Looks like I need about 190mm of spacer material!  This can't be right can it?  My springs are 340mm in length. Stock are 500 and something mill.  Does anyone know roughly how long their race tech springs are that went in with the RPM valves.  I ordered the .85 kg flavoured ones (not sure if spring weight affects length).

All I can think is that my springs are way too short!?!? :wacko3:

Any ideas?
A life has been well lived, if you have planted trees under who's shade you do not expect to sit.

I'm told I'm cynical, pessimistic and generally miserable. I say that I'm realistic! The fact that reality sucks is not my fault!

I installed the RPM valves and RT springs (0.85) and I think my spacer was 130/160mm. That was in 89' forks.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

I have tried to send you a couple of emails to the address you provided, but they come back undeliverable. I just tried another email that I had for you.

Nurse,

I put some .95 kg/mm Race-Tech springs and R-T emulators in my '91 and yes, they were much shorter than the springs I removed.  Sorry, I don't remember what exact length they were or how long my preload spacers had to be.
Realize that the length of a spring is not important as long as the spring rate is what you want, and that you don't get coil bind at the extreme of compression.  Some spring mfrs. vary the length to vary the rate without changing either the pitch or dia of the wire or spring.  Longer springs of a given pitch, wire, & spring dia will have a lower rate (softer)
