Here I am, guys - MARK. I am typing on a Hungarian keyboard, so this will take a while. I'm sitting at the nurse's station now because of wireless connection problems.

WOW!  Great way to end 2012 hearing you're up and about. Great start to the New Year, too.  We'll keep you all on the prayer list for continued healing. Sounds like you've still got a tough row to hoe but, hey, you're back with your family and back in communication mode with us. Can't think of any better news. Hang tough, Bro.

FJMonkey - The first meds they put me on were hallucinogenic. When I closed my eyes, all the images were in red and black. Sorry, no white, though.

That's interesting. I had a bike wreck back in 2006, and vividly recall some of the dreams I had in the hospital the first night. In my case, the colors were red and yellow, with a distinctly Mexican or Aztec flair to the patterns. I imagined myself at some kind of wild party.

Extremely realistic and vivid. Very "Kubla Khan"-like as I recall.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kubla_Khan

Does it hurt to laugh?

Any idea who was responsible for the cable being where it was? Military bases are usually pretty safety-conscious. Some kind of practical joke gone horribly bad?

What a way to start a new year!

Mark, nothing to apologize for, its good to know that your hallucinogenic image colors are consistent with your FJ. I wonder if that's why some like their pink stripe so much???

Here come the pics now!

When I climbed into the ambulance. Pretty beat up. My wife said my eyes were completely black and bleeding:

My faithful wife who has been through much!

My kids brought some stuff to me in my backpack, where I found my Oakleys. My kids insisted on a photo:

Mark,

after reading everything I expected that the pictures were going to be really bad.  We can't see all of the broken bones but you like fairly good.

Prayers for your further recovery and thanks for everything that you have already done and will continue to do for the orphans there

thanks for the pics Mark, good to see you hopefully improving....the smile on your wife's face says a lot  :good2:

Actually the Hungarian recovery ward must be the only place that does not allow you to receive a blanket when you tell them you are cold and ask for one! :dash1:

The doctor checked me today and after I complained about the unending pain, he said, "May I remind you that when you arrived, your face was broken OFF?" ...Motioning with his hands... He has a point. It's going to be a long road to recovery, but seems I have a good start. Thanks again for all your kind words and prayers!
