Hi everyone :)

After a long break of 15 years from motorcycling, my wife and I have just became proud owners of an '85 FJ 1100 and we are soooo excited! I began riding in '84 and always loved the style of the FJ's but sadly never owned one until now. We picked it up for $2,000 which we thought was a great price. It's in great shape with 54,000 kms (34,000 miles) and is pretty much stock, except for a missing lower cowl which hope to find.

Looking forward to getting to know the group!

Welcome to the club!!! You will find many members here that have an impressive wealth of knowledge and insight on these air cooled beauties & brutes. Yours looks to be in good cosmetic shape and half of the miles/Kms as my 86. The lower fairing can be found by checking Ebay, but I think there are more after market body parts in the EU if you look around. They will be in fiberglass and will need some paint. Browse/search the club files first, you will find many links and conversations on almost anything.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Hello Rob and Dawn,

I am new here too.  And it has been the same amount of time since I rode a bike until we picked up an 85 fj1100 this spring.
the wife loves it so we bought a 91 fj1200 about 5 weeks ago with plans to sell the 1100.....of course we are going to keep them both now( im pretty sure the 1100 needs the typical 2nd gear fix.) .  Even after the repairs I plan to keep it.  We are from Kingston(Napanee) Ont., and there are other fjowners nearby that are members here too..
I remember from kijiji that there are quite a few in the maritimes for sale , so there must be lots there too. you have awsome roads around down there for riding and sightseeing!  We went there on our honeymoon and it would be at the top of our list for nice rides!
we will also be looking for the lower cowling for our 91 as "high winds" must have broke a small piece of it off.
Just noticed it in the last week. oooops....$$ca-ching$$!
Hope you weathered the hurricane ok..
I'll post a pic as soon as figure out how to......so far no go.

Robin & Dawn,
Welcome.  There's a pretty large and active Canadian contingent amongst us.  I did a tour of Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island in '96 on my '87 FJ.  Had a great time.

Hello and welcome Rob & Dawn!
We may be sort of neighbors, we are 45 minutes from the Ferry terminal in Bar Harbor, Maine.  We would love to invite you to come ride here in the Fall, but our roads are worse than terrible. :dash1:  However, if you are ever in the area, let us know if we can do anything for you.  We are planning to travel to Eastern New Brunswick, to visit relatives, then maybe over to Nova Scotia and back by ferry.  We are from the Bangor area, what part of Nova Scotia are you from?

Murray and Sherry from Maine :hi:

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Murray & Sherry, thanks for the invitation :) We haven't been across the border since '94 so we are long overdue for a trip. We moved to New Glasgow 3 years ago so if you come down from NB we can ride out to Truro and meet you for a coffee or something. We're only about half an hour from there.

Paul & Cathy, it's cool to know we're not the only ones getting back onto 2 wheels. I feel like I'm learning to ride all over again LOL ....yes we made it through the hurricane unscathed, thanks for asking! We didn't get much wind but did get some very heavy rain. I need to get a shed for the bike, right now I only have the cover so I made sure it was tied on securely. Our FJ has had the 2nd gear issue fixed (according to the previous owner)

We do have some nice twisty roads down here and believe it or not I have never driven the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton. Now that we have the bike we hope to head down there this fall and see the Autumn leaves if the weather isn't too chilly. If any of you come for a tour of Cape Breton, be sure to look us up, you'll be driving right past us to get there :)

Hey Paul, I was in Mississauga last summer for a few weeks (work) and will be there again, possibly October. It's not really close to you though. Shame we couldn't get together so I could swipe some parts off your '85 errr ooops I mean have a look at your fine FJ's  :good2:

Once I get a Corbin seat and a taller windscreen... we might consider a long trip on the FJ :)
