Do yourself a favor and use your indicators they are a really useful way of staying alive.

Yep, I agree with this. Before I trust the cage rollers to see my turn signal, I will turn and point my intentions...
And yes, I too am a dick... :blum1:

Yes, well thanks for all the advice.  I AM using my signals now but am just wanting to know where to get another switch if mine does fail.  They are no longer available, so where to get another.
Thanx FJ11.5  but I am not able to find the XJR listed on the Yamaha parts list.  What years am I looking for?
The right side switch is still available for our bikes-[starter/on-off switch]
I thought I needed the right side switch as my starter button was sticking on.  I was able to take it apart and clean and regrease it and it works like new.

Im pretty sure you will be able to source another one without any issues (used) really there are plenty of fj`s being broken all the time. I havent opened my FJ one up but they are usually dead easy to just repair with a little bit of ingenuity I shouldn`t worry about it .

I guess I will deal with it if it ever breaks.  So the XJR is only a European bike?  I googled it and it seems to only be over there.  I have never seen one here either. It is a really nice looking bike, like the V-Max but I bet a much better handling bike than the V-MAX.  V-Max wheelbase is too long to take corners.

I`m not 100% sure of its origin , to be honest i`m not a great lover of naked bikes . I do a lot of touring so for me the screen is a must . my ultimate wold be the FJR 1300 I would die for one of those . Way out of my price range though . I`ll stick with me FJ ..lol

I did a quick search for "88 FZR turn signal switch" it sure looks like a match.

Thanx for the info.  Yep, FZR looks the same, I had one of those once. FZR 1000.  I remember it having much less vibration when riding.  Yes, the naked bike would be my around town and short trip bike.  No multi-day trips like when I was young and did not know better.

I believe most mid 80's Yamaha sport bike handlebar switches will work as replacements, ie FZ, Fazer, VMax, FZR. Even though switches for our 20+ year old bikes are no longer available new from Yamaha, we are a resourceful bunch and if a person has enough patience. The combined knowledge here in this group can turn up parts from other makes and models that will work. Here is a photo of one that is for a VMax, the same part number is used from 85 to 07.

That means one should be able to get a NEW replacement from Yamaha. Thanks for the info and I am signalling the hell out of my turns now.
