Balls up

Just noticed my friends default riding position is with the balls of his feet on the pegs, as he was taught at the California Superbike School.

Anyone else do this?

In general I ride with my heels hooked on the pegs. On longer rides I will alternate heels hooked and balls of the foot on the peg just to change positions.

Yes.......that's my natural riding position - and I find that its more comfortable like that anyway....... on long rides I will hook my heels onto the passenger footpegs to change leg position.

For sporty riding, yes, otherwise I move my feet around to stay comfortable...

Long hauls will see my feet all over the place, looking for comfort or a stretch.

Sometime the balls need a stretch too, just depends how long I've been in the saddle!

Ditto...

Uh, double ditto... (except, truth be told, I've never touched down any of the hard parts -pegs or feet, on the Gixxer.  I did a couple of times on the FJ, and the CBR but not on the Gixxer.

well, Harvey appears to be the only one that does this as his default riding position and I assume it's not so he can reach the pegs.

Like most, I also do it out of necessity in the twisties but with a variation, I move my inside foot back for the duration of the corner only. I still managed to wear right through my uppers over time though.

A normal corner for me would involve at least a couple of gear changes down and up and use of the rear brake, that's a lot of foot shuffling on every corner.

As a fatigue fighting option I find it a little odd, because it's the opposite of what I want to do, straighten my legs.

I do use the rear pegs, and I hang off one side of the bike with only one hand on the bars and stick my leg straight out the other, I lean on my tank bag with my elbow and forearm ( you need a throttle lock for the last 2) to change the load on my upper body, I move my arse as far as I can off one side of the seat, again with one hand on the bars and the one I do most often is stand on the pegs with my knees locked and after I've done all that several times over I say fuck it and find somewhere for a coffee, lemon tart and a fag.

Normally I ride with the balls of my feet on the pegs, though not always tight against the bike unless I'm in a twisty bit.  Sometimes I'll slide down enough that my heels are hooked onto the pegs, but that's less often.

On longer rides, I try to physically get off the bike and walk a bit to stretch at least at fuel stops, and usually once between fuel as well (every 90min or so is usually how it works out).

Commuting my heals are in th middle, left covering the many gear changes I have to do, and the right covering/dragging the rear brake.

On the twists, it's balls of the feet (just like on my bicycle) putting my weight through them, gear changes are (usually) sorted before I get to tipping it in, and the back brake doesn't get touched.
