Suspension bearings

I am in the middle of re furbishing a 93 FJ and am up to the swingarm and suspension bits. The swingarm bearings looks and feel good and will just need cleaning and re greasing. The roller bearings in the suspension linkage have a bit of play and look pretty grotty. I was wondering how difficult these are to replace. Do they need to be pressed in or can I do it with a big hammer and a drift ? With wheel and steering head bearings I usually put them in the freezer for a couple of hours and this seems to help. Do the bushes that run in the roller bearing have to be replaced at the same time or can the old ones be re used ?
Thanks for any help

Replace them Stuart not hard if you go to the trouble of pulling every thing out, do it now while its out! They are 20yrs old, replace them.

I am accumulating the parts for a GSXR rear wheel conversion and what started all this was the fact that I want to pull apart the swingarm for inspection/repair/lube etc.. I also need a new tire this spring and just figured it was time to upgrade.  Domino effect I guess.
Before I tear it down is there anything I should be aware of ? Its a 1990 FJ with 22K on it and with its age, the bearings probably should be replaced. Are the bearing available from a bearing supply or are they a Yamaha only part ?  More parts in the pile............ :dash2:

Yes I just did mine on my 92.  I had one bushing wore pretty bad.  Had a tough time getting a few of them out.  I froze them before inserting.  Use some emery cloth to clean up before seating them.  I use a piece of hardwood and tap them in.  Take your time and keep them nice and straight.  I bought mine from Yamahasportsplaza, but I think Randy can source them now, and he will make sure you get the right ones in teh right quantities.

Thanks I will contact Randy after I pull apart the arm. I need to ask him a tool question anyhow for a future repair. RPM has been real good about getting parts out. I got my carb rebuild kit and oil filter conversion kit from him along with other misc parts. He ships out super fast and very helpful.
Well back to fleabay and scrounge for more wheel conversion parts....... The pile is growing and the bank account is shrinking.... :)
