will a 1/4 inch fuel line flow enough gas for the fj ?

0.25in X 25.4 = 6.35mm, looks good for a fuel pump model, need 10mm for gravity feed. And a filter may cause a restriction acting like it is smaller with reduced flow.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

thats what i thought, Im currently running 5/16 fuel hose from the petcock to the carbs, and it seems to work fine. I have most of the parts together to do my fuel delivery modification: Adapter plate-5/16 hose barb- on/off valve- filter- carbs. I have everything but the on/off valve, thats still in transit. I got a quick connect, advertised as "5/16" but actually its 1/4 and the valving in it further restricts fuel flow. I can live without the quick connect feature, though it would be nice for tuning purposes to be able to slap an extra length of hose in there and use the tank at a distance... Anyways, Ill post pics of all the parts tomorrow, I want to mount the petcock valve so its accessible without removing any bodywork and the filter where I can see it without too much trouble. Going to leave room in the system for the solenoid option if i get that itch later.

I haven't had a fuel flow problem with the quick disconnects. Wish I knew you wanted a Pingel on/off valve as I have one that is in mint condition.....I went with the vacuum inline valve.

what size/make is your disconnect?
It is a CPC 5/16" like yours. It has valves on both sides. Check CPC out....they have 3/8" parts too(and a ton of other bits). http://www.colder.com/Tabid/72/MaterialID/1/cID/1/sID/4/tID/1/Products.aspx

I was mistaken...it is a 3/8" valve. My remote system used a 90 degree fitting FYI though that was for FCR39's. Sorry for the misinformation.
Big problem with the remote shut off and/or the direct Pingel tap was #1 clearance for the direct tap (it sucks) and #2 having to remove the side cover with either set up....that's why I went with that vacuum system. It does work mint and that is after 2 seasons of use.

What's the story with the loop on the fuel line? Is there a reason for the excess?

The reason for the extra line.... It makes routing easier with the uni filters. But that all changes this weekend. All hoses and fittings from the tank to the carbs will be 5/16, external on/off, fuel filter, no excess fuel line, valve mounted where i can operate it without removing sidecover (may require some cutting). While im at it gonna have the valve cover off and check clearances.

I meant in general as in why doesn't the fuel line just hang a right into the twin feed instead of the big loop? Bearing in mind this is a gravity feed. :unknown:

It gets the fuel ready by swishing it through a slide like a water park ride before it hits Kookaloo. Otherwise it would be totally shocked and may not release the full Kookaloo in to the FJ Kooaloo maker....

No idea then monkey. :scratch_one-s_head:
Well I can take a stab at it for real if you want to get serious... The fuel lines need to be kept in a position that will prevent them from kinking when things get really warm under the tank. If you have a cool or room temperature hose it will be stiffer and bend differently then when it gets hot. The loop controls the path of the hose and also provides some room to lift the tank to disconnect the hose for service. The OEM hose also has larger hose further supporting the hose to prevent kinking... How was that?

yeah, if it hung straight down and connected to the t fitting immediately, you wouldnt be able to lift the tank without popping the hose off. (Which happens to the vacuum line anyways)
