This is taking the post away from its original topic sorry,

The discussion is about age  for Conditional  Rego, .

The RTA or RMS  in nsw, class a bike 30 years old by year, not month,

a 12/85 is classed as 30 years old 12 months before a 1/86, even though it's only 1 month older (depending on day of month)

So far what I have seen, the 1200 came out in 1986,
so a 12/85 model 1200 is a bonus for cheap rego as it is classed as 30 years old,
12 months before a plated 1/86,
saving around $600.00 for club rego.

But Megsy, its only 2013 now, so neither are 30 years old yet....... or am I missing something here?

The new models come out in October of each year so a 11/85 or 12/85 were actually 86 models!! Yamaha and all Japanese manufactures follow the US release dates so October is the release of the next years models that way all their vehicles are the same as the US.
NSW Rego works on the yr on the compiance plate as do most of the states so even tho you may have an 86 model( 11/85 or 12/85) you would be able to get the 30 yr rego before someone who has an 1/86 complianced vehicle :nyam2: .

What I think was missed was,
in my original post, I said I hoped to catch up with CanDman "NEXT" year which means my FJ1100 will then be 30 years old,

I then referred to the 1200 having a 12/85 plate, so in 2 years time I will get cheap rego on it as well.

I now own 4 FJ1200's but have never ridden one because I have 17 bikes here in my shed, 5 of which are registered,
And on average only get ridden once or twice a year,
I sadly cannot justify the rego cost on the FJ1200's as well till they qualify for Club rego,
which is around $50.00 a year including the CTP green slip insurance. :good2:

Ahhh, so am I right in saying that my 12/92 plated FJ was actually sold as a 1993 model? Actually hang on........ back now. In my workshop manual the sale details of when I bought the FJ list it as a '93 model, so it must be right. Gets confusing some of this.

Joe, did you get the PM I sent you on Monday. If you want to get together and discuss a plan of attack, we could ride to Batemans Bay and talk about it over a cup of coffee. I'm free most weekends, Monday and Tuesdays. Let me know.  Cheers Pete.

84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

My poor old bike is still waiting for it's engine.  The mechanic was about to put it all back together and noticed the cam chain guide was under par, so I had to order one quick, 2 weeks from Japan. :dash2:

When I do get the engine back, assemble the works, then synch everything, then solve the niggly bits, then get the head re-torqued, it will be too late for me to come up by march 9th.

I will wander up maybe mid-march and visit a relative anyway...

But count me out.  not happy.

cheers, Gareth

If something falls through on your cam chain guide, let me know. I have all of them in stock and with priority shipping you would have in your hands in 7-10 days.
