Doug, you're obviously like things to be organised, perhaps you could apply the following to the Rally ride - if  you want to get beaten up.

This, believe it or not, is from the current edition of the Victorian BMW clubs newsletter and most certainly was not intended to be humurous.

I hear failure to comply can lead to rider and bike being shot at dawn.

 will see ya at the pub, where I will follow point 6 and relieve myself upon the ride leader  :bye2:

I also believe that the tail leader should stay in contact with the with the last rider but not touch the last rider inappropriately.

Noel you have made my day, this is the funniest things I have read in a along time and one of the reasons I stopped riding with UC who can be similarly pompous on occasion.

Noel,

That's pretty standard large group ride policy or behaviour, but I've never seen it written out before.
When you have a group of 50+ riders of varying skill and attitude it does help get the group to the same end.

I would hope that our group at Bellingen is able to maintain visual contact with the rider(s) in front and behind without needing to resort to such teutonic stipulations.  Did the BMW club require each and every rider to sign the contract before they can participate? :-)

The last ride I was on that had this formally in place was a Ulysses Club ride.
I'm not old (mature) enough to become a member.

There are prolly only half a dozen people I trust to ride in a group with, other than them forget it  :music:

The General

Uhmmmmm.... I noticed Baldy trying ta hold me hand last time...Now I understand!...did he use ta own a BMW?

It was pretty casual last (and next) FJ rally and there were quite a few major changes of direction plus a few pee and Pic stops. Appreciated Harvy Know`n where they were and it was made clear anyone feelin more kookalooish ta feel free ta go for it. (which we did- ta get some pics   :mocking: )

Megsy put it best to me in a chin wag last month. Tha only recomended yardstick is the volunteer tail ender. When he arrives at a designated (or spur of tha moment) stop ya know if one of ya mates might be back there in a ditch somewhere, by tha head count. (Harvy`s two up next year and in a new area, so may want a relax from those "jabs" of correction.)

Google a contour map of tha Bellingen area and you`ll see, no matter where we go there`s endless kilometres of twisties with zero (me thinks) major direction changes between venues ... we`re gunna have fun.

Ever noticed not many lovers of our hobby have played team games? We all enjoy riding with mates, but important to respect the freedom to ride alone - even in a group- cause it`s in our DNA. On account of me being king shit on an FJ I am very wary of my EGO, which makes me forget about two things. 1. My Age    2.My past experience  3.and that Sometimes it takes more courage to slow down than to keep up.

From my past rally experience.... the riding order usually sorts itself out pretty quickly...by the first planned break spot the cliques will have formed. My best advice is to keep it to smaller groups of 5 or six bikes with common meeting places for the various groups to arrive in their own time... the smaller groups make it easier to get thru intersections and traffic and for the most part the first guy can still see the last guy in his mirrors

Its really helpful if at least one person in each "group" knows where they are actually going or are  at least familiar with the route.... however it never hurts if someone does a nicey and prints out route maps so all riders have a copy...

BTW I have run sweep on many FJ rally rides....its fun to watch and see how everyone rides before i let them get behind me

there is no better sight or sound than a line of FJ's peeling over into a turn at speed!  :good2:
You dont get to experience that out in front.

KOokaloo!

Anyway there's bound to be a few with UHF radios or Bluetooth coms who are happy to run sweep.

Couple weeks ago,I went and checked out a bike for my mate Wood duck, he lives just outside Bellingen,
Ducati 999 S, beautiful bike in fantastic condition at a good price.
Took it for a test ride, told him it was a good thing so he bought it.

He had it shipped down to his place last week, got the registration/insurance etc transferred over to his home state on Friday and took it for it's first ride today (Sunday) to go visit a mate of ours who also lives just out of Bellingen on the Grafton/Armidale road.

Yep, hit a 'Roo.

Kangaroos are cunts of things, they are near impossible to spot until they're on the road because of their colouring and they leap like giant fucken leaping things.

Bastard things can get to over 6' tall as well,

full of muscle too.
