Brake Lines

Anyone outside the US considering braided brake lines maybe interested in this.

Speigler, for a 2 line kit with straight banjos at the caliper (blue dots), wanted $164 including postage to Aus. They do not post outside of the US / Canada so put me in contact with one of their dealers.

Venhill (UK) can do the same deal for $84, that's near enough to half the price.

The only difference is they have olives and screw on banjos instead of crimped so the angle is adjustable but I see no downside to that once fitted.

I thought Vanhill only made their own brake lines?
At Speigler's website you see straight away what type of line you need for your bike, depending on your setup etc. Do Vanhill deal those same lines from Speigler?

I may not have phrased that properly, Speigler can be oredered internationally but only through one of their dealers, that's where I got my price from.

Venhill do 2 & 3 line kits by make and model (including the FJ) and component sets, much the same as Speigler.

Have a look on ebay, I bought mine through a dealer in the UK or you can google them.

You can buy direct from Venhill but they don't list make and model kits, just components, which is fine if you know your hose lengths.

When I needed a new braided line for my XT last month, I went to a local race shop with the old hose, and it only took about 10 minutes to get a new one made up.  Cost was $35.

I'll bet you have a local shop that can do the same.

We have plenty of them that CAN but won't. The legal implications of making brake hoses without the appropriate approvals is not worth the trouble it can bring on such a low budget item.
They might do it if you signed a disclaimer saying they were for off-road use only.
I'm self employed ( not an owner operator ) and by the time I go somewhere to get it made it's already more expensive than online.

   I bought mine from an ebay seller called Moto-heaven. If my memory serves me, they are in the US. A pair of HEL front braided lines were about $120-$130 plus about $25 shipping to Australia. Service was very quick and hoses are good quality. Will buy the rear hose from them when I get around to it.   Pete.

(Threaded Banjos don`t get passed for registration here - no matter where they`re made (Unless ya know the Inspector  )

had effie inspected once, just after I fitted galfer front lines, , the guy asked what they were from , not who made them , I said yzf, saved my butt as he was going to check if they were allowed , , and this guy is an arsehole , , once inspected an old model vehicle with a wooden chassis , wasn't going to pass it because somebody had swapped all the steel out for wood ect ect, car was made in the early 1900,s t model or somethin like that , ,

That's ridiculous, presumeably their concern is them coming loose, like the banjo bolts, bleeders, splitters, levers, caliper mounts etc.
