2/16 brake mc

Hi all, anybody ever used a 2/16 bore brake master before, can get it cheap,  but would it work with blue ,spots,  and compared to a 14mm mc or 5/8 how does the bore size work,  smaller is better or larger bore  (popcorn)any help its off a 2003 250 kAwasaki
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

sorry, one more question, , would a 16mm radial mc work withstandard type blue spots,
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

2/16 ?? Are you sure?  That's only 3mm diameter assuming that 2/16 should have an inch symbol after it.

If it really is 3mm diameter, it won't push much fluid over a normal stroke of ~1" (25mm) or so.

We've been using 5/8", 9/16", 15mm, 14mm bore master cylinders, so you can see that 2/16 is pretty damn small.

And its not smaller or larger is better.  This is a trade off.  You need a certain amount of fluid to be displaced by the master to cause the slave(s) (the caliper pistons) to move and exert a certain amount of pressure against the brake pads.
A. With a larger bore m/c you need to squeeze harder, but the lever doesn't move as much.
B. With a smaller bore m/c the squeeze is lighter but you'll have to move the lever further.
A & B can give you the same brake effect but they act differently.

nooooo im not sure mate, just going on information given by the ( mechanic) , have not seen the mc up close, thought it would be small compared to a standard 5/8 but thats a ridiculous  size if correct ,,:morning2: ,assuming he needs new glasses,,, a 16 mm radial mc  from an r6 may be worth a try, , free is a good price as its lost its elbow to someone  else,  and i happen to have a nip brembo one here  :good2:

Hey Rod.  Had a look on ebay at some ex 250 masters.  saw one that had 2L cast into it.  Most others had 1/2 cast into them.  No idea what 2L means.  They are designed for one small front caliper and may not move enough fluid for two calipers.

thanks mate, thats excellent info,i had a look, also seen the half ones, but never checked out what they use them on :good2:, , think ill pass on the kwaka one,  , and give the r6 radial 16mm one a try  :scratch_one-s_head:
