Hi all. I bought some aftermarket horns. I want to find the old horn relay so I can splice a wire in the line coming from the horn button before the relay. That way I can run both relays side by side operating different horns. I can trace the wires from the horn back to a bundle behind the steering column, but after that I'm lost. Does anyone know where this relay is? I can't find it in my manual! Thanks!

I'm not sure the standard horn has a relay, unless its in the relay block behind the fairing ,, headlight level , left side of the fairing ,, that's why the horn only goes beep and not BBEEEEEPPP
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

I put a set of 2 Hella BFH* under my tank and just ran them in parallel off the existing horn power leads...  works fine and the horns scare the poop out of most, so plenty loud.

* Big F'ing Horns - the red 3.5" diameter ones.  I can maybe find more if you need it.

No stock horn relay on an FJ.

But don't let that stop you from installing one.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I'll just use the existing horn wire to activate the relay I have, then run power to all three horns. Thanks again!

Thanks Racerman! I'll get these horns on there eventually! I did end up mounting them in the same place you did.

good deal.... they are really loud when they have full voltage. Using the existing horn wire to operate the relay is exactly what i did.

The horns work! Hallelujah! After miles and miles of wiring it worked out. 10 gauge wires for everything. I wired in the existing horn along with the other two. People in cars seem to hear me now, they stop doing stupid things when I hit the horn. More important here in NYC, pedestrians hear it through their headphones and get out of the freaking street!

Thanks to everyone for the help!

Oh, and for the horn relay location, I just zip tied it to the wiring harness up under the fairing on the right side.

I bet you can get people to physically jump it you time the horn blast just right!

i think the dual tone horns make people in cars think they are about to hit something expensive and people in the street think they are about to get flattened!

Kookaloo!
