1) take a whole buch of gobby shouty Americans  :yahoo:
2) chuck in a ton of arrogance and questionable sportsmanship  :blum1:
3) swagger about like you own the place (although one might argue that technically you do own Medinah and were just allowing the rest of us to play through)
4) Suddenly realise that no amount of bravado will ever make up for perseverance and talent. :sorry:

Now i should at this point highlight im not a fan of golf i just thought i would use the opportunity to wind up a huge number of Americans in one go!   :drinks:

I'm told I'm cynical, pessimistic and generally miserable. I say that I'm realistic! The fact that reality sucks is not my fault!

Can't stand golf either, but you missed the Point, the yanks lost!

Don't get me started on cricket, that was another sport too complicated for you lot so you took it simplified the rules and called it baseball!  In the uk only school girls play that and we call it rounders!

I'm going to chalk this up to cultural differences. Where I'm from, we generally call this being a sore winner--almost as bad as being a sore loser. A loser who accepts his defeat is generally the better man than the winner who lords it over him.

As for me, I don't really watch sports. I play them. And I don't play Gold, Baseball, or Football; I prefer rock climbing and martial arts. For recreation, I play 'football' (not the American variety) with some other locals in Austin.

But I'm just one American.

Sorry to hear that American pro golfers are such pompous pricks, apparently. Don't confuse them with the rest of us... You're getting back at the wrong people.

Not everyone understands what a completely rational process this maintenance of a motorcycle is. They think it's some kind of a knack or some kind of affinity for machines in operation. They are right, but the knack is almost purely a process of reason.

Alright, I'll bite.

Need I remind you that not once, but TWICE over, you'd be speaking with a German accent just now were it not for the USA?

Gloat all you want about a little ball and some sticks, but deep down, you know the truth.  You folks are our bitches when it comes to slaughter.

Game on.

Don't take me too seriously!  :drinks: I'm just taking the pee!  Got to smile about these things haven't you.  I'm much like you, don't watch sport, play some (a bit) but am more into martial art (Kung fu and tae kwon do) what do you do?

I had this conversation with someone only the other day.  I reckon we should have rolled over and let em in.  What would have been the net result, well we would all be driving mercs or beemers, we would have cheap clean and reliable public transport, great healthcare, be one of the richest country's in the world, have efficient well planned road networks, oh and we would own Greece!  Now I'm not saying I fancy goose stepping to work every day but I shouldn't be so quick to call winning ww2 such a great result in the long run.  We will ignore small details like mass genocide, creating 'master races' and homicidal maniacs as political leaders (I mean hitler not tony blair and his mate george w. bush just to clarify) at this time!

Well... You'd have all those things if you were blonde, anyways.  :blum1:

Oh, and who wants to drive a beemer? My friend's '83 R100RS is a ghastly beast of a machine that couldn't handle its way out of a paper sack, pretty as it is. Technology was behind its time. My 'midrange' XJ650 (81) has more horsepower and is more reliable, gives a smoother ride, and even though the R is a 'sport bike' and mine is a 'special' (read: cruiser) styling of the time (though the rake and engine is the same as the sport equivalent of the machine, to be fair), mine can literally handle circles around his.

Of course, while the Japanese were on board with the Axis, it is widely acknowledged that the destruction of Japan during WWII is what allowed them to rebuild so effectively into the industrial powerhouse they became--and it was only because BMW had to keep up with the Joneses that they started picking up their game in the late 80's a bit. So really, they owe too. And where would we be without the FJ, eh?

So add that to the list of things to thank us for.

As for martial arts, my background is primarily in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but I also trained at a gym in Israel for some time where Ninjitsu/Budo Tai Jutsu was the base and MMA/Judo/BJJ/Aikido were all required cross-training. Not a big fan of Tae Kwon Do except for the nice acrobatics, but Kung Fu has always appealed to me.

Unfortunately I live in the sticks these days so there isn't much choice it's tae kwon do, tae kwon do or oh what's that other one..... Oh yeah tae kwon do! Still variety is the spice of life and all that!  Your experiences sound cool!

I understand your pain! I sometimes think about trying to live in a small community, but the lack of things like a Go club, group of riders, or martial arts options, or climbing gyms/community... Hard life! (First world problems... heh. )

It's certainly better than nothing! It looks like fun, anyways, which is always my first criteria in picking a martial art. It just doesn't seem very effective, which is my second. Beggars can't be choosers, eh?
