So new i dont own it yet but im picking it up on wed. been lurking for a couple of days, fantastic community, great resource. This will be my first "big" bike, started riding late @ 25/ with an 89 yamaha xt350, then an 04 'zuke sv650 (freaking great ride), sold it to move south for school, got an 80 yamaha xs400 which was my only transportation for the last 10 months. Now im 32, and i feel like i can handle the responsibility of a liter bike, and the price is right. Getting the 85 1100 for 800 plus the xs400, which seems like a good deal to me.

Yep, your gonna fit right in here, like you own the place.... And if I ever put rockets on my FJ, I will sure as hell use them. Some of the drivers here in SoCal need to be disabled and off the road. I guess I need to keep using my Power Ranger powers to stop the growing forces of STUPID from messing with my ride... Rockets will just get me in to so much trouble....

Yamaha Anti Dive, use brake hydraulic pressure to dampen the forks more during breaking. They don't work... Just add weight.

....well there we go, I dont even own it yet and I have the first mod lined up. From what i have read on the site here, i reckon i want to
a)stiffen up the front end (i know i know, what she said)
b)improve the brakes-though i think i see stainless lines in the pics
c)corbin seat, when i win the lottery
d)ride the tires off of it

e) raise the rear end of that sucker ASAP, cause you're gonna hate how hard that bitch is going to be, to  bend through a corner at speed!
f) replace forks with 89+ FJ forks and benefit from the availible RPM fork valves and later model R1 calipers.
g) do yourself a favor and update to 17" wheels, front and rear.

Hm, yeah, my last bike had a whopping 32hp and sat at about 320lbs. There is definitely going to be an adjustment period. Hope i survive it. :shout: Im used to pretty flickable machines, so i imagine mods will happen as my meagre budget allows
