Ignition switch connector issue

Hi,
I am having a problem with the connector to the ignition switch on the wiring harness side. It tends to heat quite a bit and it has already given me problems such as the bike not shutting down and the accessory lights not turning on. I tried to clean the connector and added dielectric grease and it is still giving me problems. The inside of the connector on the harness side seems to be melted a bit and is not looking too good. I was wondering if there is any way to get another connector that the same as the old one or just buy a new connector that is different but still has the three wire connection. I would have to cut the connectore and rewire. Would it cause any problems if I just hardwired it for now to ensure that there's a good connection.

Thanks,
Mark

cut it out if you can't find a new switch block , , sounds like the plug has corroded and is / has gotten hot from too much resistance
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

I cut out the connectors and added an extension to each wire and reconnected directly. I works great. Now I don't have to worry about it overheating or coming loose.

Thanks for the advise,

Mark

This place, Vintage Connections , sells just about everything you need for repairing the wiring to factory-new condition.... I bought their connector kit and a crimper, works GREAT!
