Bully @ School

My 11-year-old son came home today again beaten up by a 13-year-old. We're only in the first few weeks of school and this punk seems to have fun beating up little kids. He had my son by the throat today choking him. He also bent his fingers back nearly dislocating them. Also today he had another kid in a headlock and gave him a black eye. He told my son today he's going to get revenge... we don't even know what for! He said it would involve beating my son in the leg with a stick. He then took my son's jacket, blew his nose in it, and threw it on the ground. All the while spewing profanity all day long and at other kids.

MAN THAT BURNS ME UP. I think if I saw this happen, I'd put him in the hospital.

That poor son of mine has had a lot to deal with in the last few days. Just last week, he lost an older sister (I won't go into details), started school for the first time (been home-schooled since day 1), and now this.

I told the principal in an email today that if that kid touches my son one more time, one of the kids will be removed from the school.

Thanks for listening.

Be sure to involve the principal, dean, and any school counselors in emails. Get responses and hound them til they do, save all responses, and if they don't get back to you the kick it up to the next level. It may seem to be over reacting but it needs to be addressed and if this kid is bullying several kids it won't take long before someone escalates it and someone gets really hurt by either a student or parent. Don't allow the boys will boys crap to slide either, bullying is beyond that. If you like, I'll ask what the procedures are here in Vegas for this sort of thing as my wife teaches 7th grade here.

Pisses me off when this happens and nothing gets done about it. Bully may have some issues at home (or he is just an ass even at that age), that is besides the point and another reason this should be taken care of.

I feel you pain.  I was the skinny, goofy, nerdy looking kid in school and was always on the receiving end of others aggressions.  If I didn't fight back, I usually got suspended for a day or two.  If I fought back, it was at least a week.

Here's some bully revenge..

While they are in school the kids are under the care of the staff. This should be addressed. Try to get in touch with the other bullied students parents. Two or three demanding action is better than one. Contact the superintendent for the district. If all this fails call the media, just the threat of this may bring action. Hope this helps? Being angry is a good thing, if you were not then something would be wrong. Keep us posted.

In public schools in the UK this sort of beahviour is not only expected it is subversivly encouraged!!  Eton and the like are renowned for it, it is carachter building apparently!!

However given that most people (me included) cant afford the £30k yearly fees i suggest you adopt the following approach and inform the little 'bar steward' that what you are doing is for all those smaler people he picks on.

Firstly ensure you have a willing accomplice who will drive so you can concentrate on the physical stuff!

1) Put on ski mask and latex gloves.
2) Bundle him into the boot (or trunk as you yanks call it - when will you all learn 'propa English like wot i speaks!') of a rental vehicle with liscence plates obscured - ensure there are no passers by, concerened neighbours or potential witnesses.
3) drive to a dark secluded area of woods or fields (not so far that he cant walk back)
4) let him out of the car, push him about a bit shout a few expleetives and generally frighten the crap out of him for a bit.
5) Chuck a shovel at him and tell him to start digging a hole big enough for him to get into.
6) Once he is concentrating on digging (motivated by a bit of shouting and telling him to get on with it) walk away, get into the car and drive off!!

Upon his return to school see how keen he is to repeat the pre-exsisting behaviour.  If this behaviour does reoccur then consider escaltion of subsequent behaviour modification interventions. :diablo:  :wacko3:

Bit extreme do you think??

Or You could call his bluff and invite him round for dinner after school!  Then be very hillbilly  scarey at the dinner table serve up weird dead stuff and play with big hunting knifes while eating, see if that freaks him out!!

Just thinking out loud!!
A life has been well lived, if you have planted trees under who's shade you do not expect to sit.

I'm told I'm cynical, pessimistic and generally miserable. I say that I'm realistic! The fact that reality sucks is not my fault!

Well, it's a little more complicated since I live in Hungary and my son goes to an international school. The bully is either Swedish or Norwegian.

The principal had a meeting with all the kids involved. The standards were re-stated to the boys, and apology was made. My son said today was much better. We'll see how it works out in the long term.

well done..It is almost impossible to give advice about this sort of thing and even more so across different cultures and different countries..you seem to have been lucky enough to have sorted this out..what can you do...Teach the kid to fight dirty..that never works, you have to be mean to fight dirty, it's not something you can teach.. give the bully a smack around the head..that doesn't work either..you end up in court and your kid gets bullied even more..

It all comes down to the fact that if you teach your kid to respect other people he will get bullied..the real fact is that nice kids get picked on for being nice..rotton kids grow up mean like me..
