Sorry to hear this Jon.  Take it easy and recover quickly.  Glad you were wearing the gear, sounds like it save your ass.  I have seen pics of your bike and some of the work that you put into it.  Hope its not a total loss.

Sorry to hear about your accident.  A down the street neighbor was killed yesterday morning on his way to work.  He was traveling to work down the highway when a car pulled out to cross the highway and hit him.  The car then spun into oncoming traffic and was hit by an 18 wheeler killing the driver of the car.  Stories like these scare the hell out of me and seriously make me consider if I should even be on a bike.  They also scare my wife and kids who then hassle me about riding.  I'm glad you were wearing your gear and that it helped to save your life.  After such a close call do you think you will ride again?  Heal quickly John.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely, in an attractive & well preserved body...but rather to slide in sideways, body completely worn out and and with your last dying breath screaming, "HOOOYA LIFE, lets try that again"!!!

Yeah no doubt.  Glad John had a better outcome. Like I said these stories scare the crap out of me.

Sorry to hear the bad news Jon.  Glad to hear you were wearing gear and that it made a difference.  It's a good reminder of the fact that it's hard to  plan on when we'll need it.

Get well soon.

Get someone to pat you on the back for being geared up. Did it feel like it was happening in slow motion?
Buddy of mine was the first owner I ever knew of a full face helmet in 1972. Saved his jaw from being part of the pavement and he showed off that helmet for ages afterwards. Cops on the scene were mighty impressed because a big piece of the chin bar was gouged right out during the head first slide.

Brings a whole ne meaning to the "Hunt and Peck" method of typing. As in why only real men can drive sport cars. One hand to shift the gears and one hand to wave out the window at all the pretty girls. How does he steer the car you ask? Thats why only real men can drive sport cars....

Glad to hear you made it through, and like everyone else glad you had your gear. Every once and a while I have friends that say just a quick trip skip the brain bucket lets go, it is stories like this that always make you glad you spent the extra few moments to be properly geared. Speedy recovery to your mind and body, the bike can come later if at all possible.
