A few weeks ago I stayed at the Grand Slam Campground in S. New Berlin NY. I was there for the Unadilla MX national race. When I pulled in on the FJ , the owner told me he was glad to have me staying there and its a biker friendly campground. It's a nice big field, with plenty of tenting areas, hookups in the back. There is a covered picnic table area, several cabins, and a decent bath house. He does give a group rate discount. There was plenty of partying going on well into the night both Friday and Saturday.
This year at the Bethel Maine Rally (NE Summer Rally)  we were chastised like a bunch of eight year olds. The owner was pissed of because we were up too late talking around the fire. I'm not really interested in going back there again. We all talked about it afterwards. There was talk about maybe moving it to some other location. This campground gets my vote. Or even a new Rally added to the schedule.
The Adirondacks are not very far away. We could make a nice loop or two.It would cut the travel time down quite a bit for the Canadian FJ owners, and maybe add some more riders from the NY,PA area. Oneonta is about a 1/2 hour away, and has stores, restaurants, etc... I have always liked riding in this area.

I'd be in...........I had a buddy that lived in Oneonta. lots of good riding roads down there......

I'd come visit my brother in Syracuse, then join the rally in New Berlin.................Make it around the beginning of September so I can go to the vintage races at Watkins Glen also........ :good2:

I don't know if I can keep a straight face this time , but count me in. Looks like that back field is considerably more secluded.

A new rally added to the schedule is not a bad idea. However I am not sure I would be able to make it, and I definitely wouldn't be able to do all the leg work.
I am kind of attached to our current loops in the white mountains, which has some great riding and sights.  I know things didn't seem very good during the rally,
especially after the Canadians decided to keep their camper for 3 nights even though they only paid for 2.

I was sure that was the last straw, But as Candman says.........."I have never seen a problem that can't be fixed by throwing money at it"
And sure as shit he was right, after they were done talking to the owners they were practically apologizing to us.

I wasn't sure how they really felt so I emailed them this.....................

Hello, Travis here from the motorcycle rally

I wanted to apologize once again for the excessive noise.....etc..........
from this years rally.

Recently talk has already started about next years rally....... and most of
the guys get the feeling we should move to a different campsite. I really
liked the location and group site you guys have but if we have overstayed
our welcome and have become more trouble than its worth than I understand
completely. We will move on, thank you

Hi Travis

Oh my god.. sorry that you feel this way! We would like for you all to come
back here again next year. We sometimes have to go out and speak to people
because we have been spoken to by another camper but it was not the first
time and won't be our last for sure. No big deal. Mike just happen to see
this email it went to our junk mail so I apologize for not getting right
back to you. You are always welcome back here!

Please let the group know,

Sincerely, Michelle & Mike

I am cool with what ever though

I am glad to hear about the emails with the campground. But I don't see how the campground can keep everyone happy. There isn't anyway we can stay up past 10 o'clock and not piss off some camper who is going to bitch and start this all over again. I really love the ride and the routes, and appreciate all you (Travis) and Bob have done to make this happen. If you want to base the rally out of the Pleasant River campground again, I will do my best to be there.
I enjoy the ride enough to retire to my tent by 10 o'clock, read a book for a while and get a good nights sleep. :flag_of_truce:

But I will miss the social time drinking and telling lies around the fire into the morning. I still think it would be worth looking into other campgrounds in the area.
I will keep exploring the possibility of doing a ride out of NY. I think with the help of the people on this forum and others , I can get enough local information to put together a couple good loops. I would hope you and/or Bob could make it out and enjoy some different roads and accommodations with out the responsibility of being "rally master" if this actually makes the schedule.

S. New Berlin NY would cut out about 5 hours of traveling in each direction for us canadians.

Ya but it would add 6ish hrs for us in Maine. I agree with Glenn about the campground. And I'm not against a second rally maybe some of the southern peeps would come up. But I'm not throwing the nefjr aside. I have been in contact with nhms they are all about us showing up. We can have anywhere we want, infield or our own area. Infield sounds the best to me, power. For those that want a motel less than 5 miles lots to do in the area can go to the coast or the mtns.

There was plenty of partying going on well into the night both Friday and Saturday.

The typical camper on "Unadilla" weekend is not the typical camper.

That's great news. Loudon is only an hour for me, but it does put us a ways from the routes we have been using. Staying at the track would certinly add a twist to the whole event.

I do realize that, but we are not anywhere near as out of control as those groups were. I just got the feeling that this guy wouldn't flip out if we were up late and dropped a few "f" bombs. I do plan on talking with him about his "rules", as I need talk to him about us staying there anyway.
The more I see about riding in the Adirondacks, the more I'm thinking this is a good idea.

Do they allow tents?

I guess you are talking about the track,so yes. I have stayed at the track for the CF classic trail ride. They have put us in a couple different lots, but all were near their nice bath house. There is a nice convenience store/gas station you can access without going out on the main road. There is a nice pizza place a couple miles down the road too.
