I took these pictures last June (2011) when we 1st moved up here from Arizona.............The very first weekend after we arrived, my wife took the kids up to Cheyenne to visit her best friend, while I stayed at our new home to do some unpacking.......I knew I had to report to work that following Monday, and it wasn't long before I gave-in to the  temptation of the only thing that was running through my mind since we got there............"Head for the Mountains!"

An unfortunate series of events that took place last summer, that started with my computer crashing, prevented me from ever posting them up last year..............I was finally able to retrieve them, so here they are.

I started off taking I-70 west into the mountains to the Empire exit, then headed north to Winter Park, Granby, and Grand Lake.

I paid the fee, entered the park, and followed Trail Ridge Rd. over Milner Pass, and through the park, with spectacular views the whole way.........

The FJ ran flawlessly, and I skirted a couple storms that were moving through the area, but I never once got rained on............
The air was crisp, and clean. There was hardly any traffic. I was in motorcycle heaven.

I worked my way down, and out the east end of the park, with some Elk viewing along the way.

I rode through Estes Park, and down through Big Thompson Canyon on my way out to Loveland, where I slabbed it back down I-25 to Denver.
It was an epic ride, that was everything I dreamed the Rockies would be...........

The famous Stanley Hotel, where Stephen king was staying when he dreamed up the story for "The Shining"
The interior was also featured in "Dumb and Dumber" as the "Danbury Hotel"

In the words of Dispicable Me's Gru, "THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING 'BOUT! You even got some great shots of Long's Peak. Now you really have me dreamin about moving back. You got it right when you said, "HEAD FOR THE MOUNTAINS."
Beautiful Pics. Thanks!

No, but it is famously haunted.........And he got alot of ideas from his stay there........

They filmed the movie version(the original with Jack Nicholson) in England somewhere, but they used outside shots of the "Timberline Lodge" as the hotel in the movie(The Overlook Hotel).
It's up on Mt. Hood in Oregon............I went there a few years ago while I was in Oregon for a wedding, and it is spectacularly beautiful.........
