FJ1200 August fun.
After missing out last year to go to Alaska from Vancouver, this year we were off for a short 10 days. We had planned on getting to the Top of the World highway. Day three saw us in Watson Lake and realized that we would need more time, or become Iron butts. At 60 years young iron butt was not in our dictionary, so plan B it was. We left Watson Lake and headed via the Cassiar connector to Hyder Alaska, so we did get to Alaska. Then headed east to the Rockies as I had never been there. I expected some nice curvy roads there but it was more a wide open visually stunning display of the Rockies. After that we headed south to the Kootneys. On our trip we enjoyed Liard, Nakusp and Ainsworth hot springs. On the last night we had planned to overnight in Osoyoos but after checking out a noisy children filled campsite we wanted to find someplace quiet. However my FJ did not start, battery cooked, easy to bump start. However to bump start a cold engine the next morning had me worried. So we had dinner and decided to ride through Manning Park at night and got home around 1 am. So after 5500 km we hit the Yukon, Alaska, Alberta and a big figure eight of BC. One night it rained all night, and twice we donned rain gear for a couple of hours. I can hardly wait for more of such trips, and will head for Alaska with more time off, maybe next year. I only had two soft bags, tank bag and all my tent gear with too many bungee cords to count.
After I got home I started once again to look for some kind of hard bags to mount. Then along came lady luck, and a lady she was, selling her 92 FJ, same color, year and mileage as mine 105,000 km. But it came with a full set of 3 X Givi 36 liter. Near new tires (I had just worn out my rear) and a bag of Yamaha tune up parts worth about $300. I paid her asking price of $1200. And giggled all the way home.

Must keep it, I want to have the body work for an upgraded paint scheme. Also would like to do a few track days again without the worry of losing street time. Also with having a spare everything how could I lose. Just finished moving the luggage over and  :yahoo:

Hello Nimbus.

I,m also from B.C., Vancouver Island. We almost met in Surrey when you purchased the 92 FJ. I had called the owner on Friday but due to another engagement on Saturday I couldn't get over to the mainland till sunday by which time you had already purchased her bike. My reason to purchase was the same as yours, spare parts to suit my 93.
Living on the island has its rewards but they come at a price I suppose. Anyways enjoy your new purchase but keep me in mind if you decide to sell any FJ related items.

Hein.
What do you mean, you don't have a lathe?
