swapped my wave disc

Ripped out the 5.5" rear wheel again today, as the rear disc on it when i recieved the wheel was the most f#$%##ed disc ive ever seen, more ripples than a jenny craig pool party and worn into a wedge shape,  , bolts wouldnt budge when i first tried, rounded out all but one,  so got serious with it today, tried welding a nut over the bolt head,but the bolts must have more alloy than steel in them  :sorry: weld may as well have been glue as it wouldnt stick to the bolt, , so with a shiney new cobalt drill bit drilled into one  bolt about 6 mm and managed to belt in an allen socket,  bolt started to undo but snapped half way,  bugger, drilled through the rest of the bolt, and re,tapped the hole, cool three to go drilled 6 mm into each of them bashed the trusty allen socket in the first one, success,  undone with a loud snap an came out perfectly, and lucky for me so did the other two, , i had soacked these,  heated them,  looking like i would have to pay someone to do the job,  but like to thank the bloke than invented cobalt drill bits :yahoo:

The prior owner or the factory must have used Red Locktite instead of Blue.

not sure what was used, but the first bolt had thread from the wheel wrapped tight around it, never known any locktight that could withstand the heat from welding
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

Thread lock will not do that. The bolt was over torqued and started to strip the threads, but did not fully let loose. You know that moment when you think to went just a bit too far when tightening??? Either the bolt stretches or the threads give, weakest link loses.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Probably done by an appentice I had a few years back.
Me, sick of his silly questions.... "how tight on these bolts boss" he asked, arr fuck it, "strip em, then back em off half a turn" I said.
He did..... :dash2:
I learnt the value of proper training and patience after that.

ouch, must not of had his hat on backwards that day , , at least he was listening , just not thinking , , should of known they were fugged after just seeing the disc , don't think the po ever used the front brake

The factory does use some sort of threadlocker, I had to use a propane torch on the front rotor bolts...
