Hello everyone!

Just thought I'd say hello before I start posting and asking questions (and hopefully answering them)

I'm a serial bike owner, and have so far been through a Honda Hornet, 2 x Honda Fireblades and a Honda CB750 in the 4 years since I have had my licence.

I'm now on a 1989 FJ1200, which I picked up this Saturday, and I'm very, very happy with my purchase.  I love the power, and torque, and it's made me enjoy my riding once again.  It's going to be a rolling resto sort of bike, it's got a few fairing cracks, a couple of scuffs and a few other issues that need sorting, but nothing an afternoon in the garage won't sort.

The only thing that bugs me about the bike is that rattle from the left hand side of the engine, but I suppose that's what you call charactor!

I'll probably spend most of my time in the technical sections, in fact, I'm off there now.... Safe riding everyone!

Welcome Super_v500, some rattle may be from the starter chain that comes with mileage. When you get a chance to meet up with other FJ owners they can let you know if your noises are normal. After being an FJ owner and member for many years I can say that some of the weird noises are not produced by the bike, it the owner's.... Kookaloo

Hello from east Anglia!  I used to work in east London, whereabouts are you exactly?  Welcome to the group I have found loads of useful help from both the files sections and the people on here.  If you need anything just ask and someone on here will have a helpful answer!  I still have family down your end of the world and am always visiting so if there's anything you need just shout.  If/when you are ready to do the gsxr rear wheel conversion I have all the bits you need and am happy to drop them close to you (even the mythical spacers and they are all off the same bike).  Let me know whenever. Enjoy the bike, enjoy the forum!

A life has been well lived, if you have planted trees under who's shade you do not expect to sit.

I'm told I'm cynical, pessimistic and generally miserable. I say that I'm realistic! The fact that reality sucks is not my fault!

Welcome to the group. I am also from East London...Ontario, Canada, that is. You will find tons (or tonnes) of useful information on this site and a few threads here and there that will make you laugh.

Welcome aboard!

Many thanks everyone, and many thanks Mike!

Mike, I'm in Walthamstow, just at the bottom of the M11 pretty much.  I'll probably do the wheel conversion last, as first I've got to sort why it keeps dropping down to 3 cylinders, the slipping clutch, the petrol smell and fueling, and (I think) head bearings.  Rode it home front Great Yarmouth on Saturday along the B143, nice bit of road!
