Hello all. Can 92 FZR1000 swingarm be used on an FJ1200? Must make fast decision on donor bike I've found. Many thanks

Pat Conlon

I'm not aware of anyone who has done this mod.

Have you measured to see if the FZR swing arm is shorter?
Looking at the online microfish it shows that the '92 FZR uses a dog bone style linkage. What year is your 1200?

I have the '92 FZR USD cartridge forks on my '84 and I love them.

Thanks, Pat. Have long wanted an FJ; this is a project I want to start this winter. Don't have FJ yet. But this FZR is available and I must buy by tomorrow.

I'd get yourself an FJ, then ride it before you start to make decisions.
There will always be an FZR swingarm somewhere.

depending on the fzr price and model, could be  a cheap set of wheels/ forks ect to fit the fj when you buy one , , or fix her up, fzr,s are  a nice bike, handle well go well, but unlike the fj they dont do everyhing well  :good2: fj,s do the lot in much more comfort
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it

84 Fj1100  effie , with mods
( 88 ) Fj 1200  fairly standard , + blue spots
84 Fj1100 absolutely stock standard, now more stock , fitted with Fj12 twin system , no rusted headers for this felicity jayne

I did it years ago,Would I do it again? NO there was a whole bunch of fab up (have a tig welder handy) and a machine shop to make a bunch of parts.

There are a lot of better rear swaps that don't require all the work.

Good luck what ever you decide.
