Hi All,
I know this a mainly XJR type question but i have found very little info on the net about using this set up on an XJR was hoping some of you who own both might be able to give me an idea if this is an easy task or not. There is a few reasons why i want to do this but the main one is to save money! Really im hoping someone on here may have played with this before? any insights or leads to more information much appreciated.

Sean,

The ignition boxes are a different plug, so you will need a FJ model box from the FJ wiring loom. Since the XJR was never offered in the US, I really cannot answer if there is more that will or will not work.

I doubt the other wiring items such as the alternator, kick stand switch, fuel gauge, starter relay, neutral & low oil lights to name a few will interchange either.

What may I ask is the issue with the old wire loom?

Hi Randy,
The Old XJR loom is intact as is all components CDI ect, except Igni. Pick Ups and TPS ( Throttle Position Sensor ) equipped Carbs, the lack of carb TPS is my real issue as i have 2 x sets of FJ Carbs spare but none with TPS the XJR Loom i would assume requires the TPS to function with the CDI as it is cable throttle as well as the TPS. That along with the wrecked Speedo on my bike lead me to search if i could wire in the FJ CDI as i have heard the use of a 3CV CDI will also bring better power with no limiting or retarding as per the XJR system so i thought i might try and go that way and utilise all my FJ spares and save having to fork out $400 for a set of TPS Carbs and still have to deal with the limiting Speedo issue and such. That would make things super simple and i would be dealing with an FJ in an XJR frame which would make me feel a bit more at home. Does that make any sense ?? :wacko1:
