Took out the bar end weights!

Why? I hear u ask? .....erm just because!  My word am I glad I did though!  The right hand side was fine, came out looked clean, nothing sinister inside so I put it all back.  Then repeated on the left. Yuk what can only be described as a wet, brown, diarrhoea like substance started to run out from inside the tube :bad:

Somehow water must have got inside and gradually turned into rust soup as it couldn't then dry. No idea how it got there coz I can't find any obvious way in there.

So after 45mins of cleaning out the inside (another of the kids toothbrushes ruined) I gave a protective spray of wd-40 and put it back together.  
A life has been well lived, if you have planted trees under who's shade you do not expect to sit.

I'm told I'm cynical, pessimistic and generally miserable. I say that I'm realistic! The fact that reality sucks is not my fault!

ummmm yummmy  :bad:, never seen that happen before, knw the weights can rust on but thats crazy ,
unless you ride bikes, I mean really ride bikes, then you just won't get it
