What is the Yahoo Group?

I keep reading PDFs that either have a Yahoo Group heading or say "Stolen from Yahoo Group" Does that group still exist or did it all spill over here? Not like I need or want to be a part of 2 forums (I unfortunately have a hard time checking this one regularly) I suppose curiosity has got me.

The Yahoo list preceded this one by several years. I believe it still exists, but in the end, immediately before this list was formed, it got nasty, ugly, unnecessarily combative and a bit ridiculous.  I tuned out for a good while when this happened, and poked my head back in there just as this list was being formed and announced.  I came over here, and have not been back there since.

Most of the good folks, and a lot of the good content from that list has, seemingly, made it over here, with a couple of notable exceptions.

From where I sit, this list stands on the shoulders of that one.

There were some arguments on the Yahoo list and a number of people dug their heels in stupidly.
As a result, this list was formed.  It has a much better interface, and lots of neat features that you don't get on Yahoo.  Marsh has been wise enough to provide scope for this forum to be flexible enough to avoid much of the irritation that occurred on Yahoo.  This list has grown much larger than the Yahoo list was.
However, many of the folks who had been on the Yahoo list, and joined this list, remain on the Yahoo list as well.

You will find that given enough provocation we can be as shitty as any other list you could find. :-)
