Hello everyone just picked up a 85 Fj1100 and am enjoying every mile so far . Lil about myself first i cant spell most of the time lol  :empathy2: Ive been riding bikes sense i was a kid everything from street to dirt and some trials. I have a Victory hammer and a 75 XS500 that im almost done building . I was looking for something between the two to have something to ride back and forth to work and to head out for a few days to look for the ever perfect road. Did some looking and talked to a few friends and stated looking at FJs . Did some lurking here asd was on the hunt . Found a nice 1100 with only 17,xxx mile on it plus a Dyna 2000 ignition and a Onlins rear shock on it . Only thing im planning to do is clean,go over  everything and fix  , new turn signals, new mirrors, and maybe few other things.
When i picked it up was told the carbs have just been rebuild and that after the PO took it out it seemed to die then after it sat for a few mins would start up and go for another few miles and repeat. So after lurking on here for a few days found that the fuel line was pinched and to long. so after messing with it took it on a 50 mile run and seems to be good to go. Also ordered a Manual first thing and go from there. Well here it is ...... :good2:

You're damn lucky that pipe didn't start a forest fire, going off in the bush like it did! LOL!

Welcome, DreadRock.  What part of Ohio?  I'm near Wooster.  BTW, the cafe project is gorgeous - definite eye candy.  Great job and thanks for sharing.

Nice eye for detail there mate.
Impressed with the tuning fork in the infill panel where the rear pegs used to live......and the DOHC500 on the seat....very clever stuff.

Cheers

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.

My kerker did the same thing at this years ECSR. Started feeling a weird vibration between 5000 and 6000 rpm for few corners and then blam no more exhaust can just the clamped on portion. After looking at it for while and now looking at yours they seem to be fatiguing right where the font end of the baffle seats against the inside of the can.

If you're in Canal Fulton you probably know where Shreve is.  Got a riding buddy with an 84 FJ even closer to you - just south of N. Lawrence on Alabama Avenue.  We used to race MX at a track near CF - it was called Crash and Burn.  Long time ago.  Definitely sounds like you're capable of getting the bugs worked out.  When you do, give me a shout.
