I make oil

Hello everyone.  New member here from South Louisiana.   :bye:

I have to say I have loved FJ's since they first came out when I was in High School.  The local Dealership had one on their floor and I would just look at it and drool.  I had a sales brochure over my bed.  I still have that sales brochure.  Life went on and I never got to own an FJ quite a few other bikes but never an FJ.  Well here I am in my 40's having not ridden in a while and I am feeling the draw of the FJ again.  My friends are rideing Harleys and I want an old superbike.  My wife thinks I'm crazy.     I am shopping around now and hope to own one soon.  That's how I found this site.  I enjoy reading the treads and it has tons of info.  Hope to have my own FJ soon so I can start to enjoy Kookaloo for myself.

Well it looks like I found one.   :good2:  Today I will finish up the deal and work on the shipping.  Buying a Red/White '86 with 18000 mi.  2nd owner with no mods at all he's owned it since '92.  The pics I've seen this thing looks mint.  I'm almost wondering if I shouldn't just leave it alone.  How many totally stock FJ's are still out there?  I think when I get it home I'm just going to go through it and do any maintance it needs and just enjoy it this summer.

Stock FJ's are fine but you can make them better if you want to and they will be more fun to ride. Then if you want stock later change it back. Congratulations on finding your FJ. The fun is just beginning, get to know it then decide what to do.  :scratch_one-s_head:

Leave it to George Barber to collect and maintain the "mint" FJs.

The mods recommended here make the FJ an even BETTER modern motorcycle.  In fact, even the easy mods will make it better than most modern bikes.

That's why I still have my '85 that I bought off the showroom.  Wheel conversions, suspension mods, and brake upgrades do not detract from the stock look.  But they turn an already good machine into a really great ride that will surprise quite a few squids on a twisty road.

You better believe it. My story is just like yours. High school showroom drooling included. The guys on this site make it way too easy to mod. Welcome and congratulations!  :yahoo:
