Ok Michelle and I really want to come to the fall rally. My Daughter is going to have my first grandchild in August. She lives in NC. So we want to combined a trip to see her and my grandchild then swing down to the FJ rally. So my question is does anyone know the exact dates of the rally?

Early congrats there gramps!

Generally the 3rd week.  Sept 1 is a Sat, does that count as the first week - a one day week?  I say no, and my guess would be 18 - 23.. Another good question for this year is where, since the Tellico KOA got tornadoed.

This from Tellico KOA Facebook page:

Debbie Pack Morris Hey Lara & Jason, As I'm sure you know, the cleanup process is complete and we've taken electrical/plumbing bids but that work hasn't been started. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers that we are able to open later in the year...and watch for updates. :)

the fall rally is 9/21 to 9/23.  that's the third friday of the month.  of course, many of us will be arriving earlier in the week.

Ok great! Thanks Dean. Yeah I will interested if you guys find another campground in the Tellico area. We will be bringing our pop-up camper and my bike in the back of my truck so camping will be what we are looking for. Michelle and I will probably come early as well. I'm thinking tuesday or wednesday. I love my daughter and I'm excited about my granddaughter but crying babies suck. So after a few days that may be enough for us.  :good2:

Ok gang, I have an answer from Lori Hunt at Hunt's Lodge in Tellico and she's excited to be having us. Does she know what she's in for......
She doesn't have 'camping' spots per se like the KOA, however she has no problem with a camper being there. Jack and Nancy G have first dibs on the one and only electric that is there. I have my concerns about whether their toy hauler can get into the spot, but my Jeff said it wouldn't be a problem....so what do I know.

I do know for anyone coming Jack and Lori will certainly do their best to make sure we have everything we need.

Here's her reply to me from FB
I'm sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I didn't see this until just now. I'll mark the whole block of cabins as "Unavailable" on the website, so people will need to email or call in to make their reservations. Cabin #1 has already been reserved by a rally-member. Would you and Jeff like to reserve one, as well?

We are looking forward to the FJ group coming in, and we will do whatever we can to make your guys' visit a wonderful time for all of you. Please let your event organizer know that they can contact me with any questions or requests and I'll do my best to take care of them. I love meeting new folks!

Incidentally, we went to the Barbor Vintage Motorsports Museum and they had an FJ on the wall. Literally. It was on the wall. They had built cubicles that sort of resembled the plastic boxes we used to keep Matchbox cars in, set up on its side. It was a very cool way to present a lot of bikes.

Grins,

Lori

And for the HIGH MAINTENANCE people (we know who you are) Lori told me that the Tellico Lodge is still there.....and it's only about 1/4 mi from her campground. Here's their info for ones that want their own hotel room. I understand that these are really nice...
Lori wrote me the following note when I asked her about them...

"I just talked to Walt at the Lodge at Tellico. They're down to 12 or 14 rooms since a tree fell across one of their buildings, but they are open for business and wide open at the moment for that weekend. Their website is http://www.facebook.com/l/YAQG5z7fgAQHA-oYhOb8vuJmW2s1wiKHxdnZvJvN5XMlTmA/www.lodgeattellico.com and their phone number is 423.253.2506. You have to call to make reservations, and I'm not sure what their deposit/cancellation policy is."

Also if any of us are wanting to do something cooked/catered for us for Saturday night up there I may have someone willing to do that as well. We would just have to let Lori know. She cooks for the SabMag rallies (Jeff's rallies) and does a WONDERFUL job of it. So I thought  would throw that out there as well.

I'm really hoping the tellico plains KOA will be up and running by then. Atleast campsites I know the cabins probably wouldn't be there yet.

Hunt's Lodge is a motorcycle specific campground. I think that Lori/Jack could come up with one more electric hookup. They offered me their travel trailer hookup if I don't get a cabin so I could stay in my truck camper. If you need it, then that will happen for you.

Hello everyone,
I called Hunt's Lodge this morning and the fellow said that to date only one cabin has been reserved.
Are we waiting to see if the KOA is operational or is Hunt's Lodge going to be the location?
Either place is fine, just curious...
Thanks,
Mike Ramos.

CodyNKR

Mike I heard that 2 cabins had been reserved and at least the only hook up that we can manage is taken by a toyhauler. I was wondering the same question as you posed though. I'm just hoping that we all can at least try Hunt's. I even have someone that will cater supper on Saturday night if we want them too.

Good Sunday morning,
Yes Nancy, I will give Hunt's Lodge a try. I just called to reserve a cabin and am awaiting a return call from them.
Should the KOA become available and the group ends up there, I see no reason to not cancel Hunt's Lodge.
Ride carefully,
Mike Ramos.

Mike I can say this for a fact. The beds are better at Hunts! They also will provide sheets, towels (for you and the bike), and for me the shower stalls are larger. You can turn around in them. :)

The only drawback is being right on the highway, so we'll just have to shoot the potato cannon towards the billboard in the next field.

So Michelle and I scheduled the third week of September for vacation. I will be spending the first part of that in NC visiting my daughter and new grandbaby (yeah I'm old now to Henry)Then off the Tellico Plains TN for the Fall FJ Rally. Can't wait to see everyone and finally ride the dragon with my FJR and the Cherohala Skyway. I'm very excited for this trip and can't wait :yahoo:

Mike Ramos

Good evening,
I called the Hunt's Lodge in Tellico Plains and reserved a cabin for the September Fall Rally weekend.
I spoke with Lori and she stated that they have two cabins left for that particular weekend.
Ride safe & pleasant travels,
Mike Ramos.
