Side Stand Cut Out Electrics

Hi there

Engine cut out on me yesterday. on a steep up hill hair pin bend which wasnt much fun. Traced the problem to the side stand wiring...over the years it looks to have been pinched by the oil filter douvalaki. I'm usualy careful in making sure the wiring is clear when tightening the cover but this time it had just pinched it a tad enough to expose the inwards of the wiring. Anyway my temporary fix was to disconnect the wiring plug under the seat and then bridge the connection with a nail I found on the side of the road. All good although during the 2 hour ride home I was sweating about the fire risk etc. Given I had left my tool kit at home there wasnt much else I could do.

U did not drop the bike?  That is some great handling for sure.  Those bikes are HEAVY.

Glad you kept the sticky side down with the power cutting out at such a bad moment.

I was damm lucky it was pure arse that I managed to keep the bike upright when it first happened. There was a very steep drop off on the side of the road without a guard rail to. Rolled down the hill until I could find a spot to sort the problem. Many thanks to the Ducati rider who stopped to warn off any approaching traffic. The motorcycle fraternity truly is a band of brothers!

Great that you caught it.  I removed the sidestand switch entirely a long time ago.
The connector is actually on the right side of the bike.  Then you have to bridge the connections.

Even if you ride off with the sidestand down, it'll kick up at the first light touch to the pavement.
