Hi my name is Steve and I am the owner of a 1986 FJ1200 this is my first (and only) motorcycle, I bought it in late 1991 the bike was purchased new out of a crate in early 1991, the dealer never sold it and the guy got a screaming deal on it.  He rode the bike back east and toured around a bit then came back and traded it in on a Venture, I then bought it and so its story begins.   I changed the color to blue because I almost lost my drivers license because of too many traffic tickets, the cops loved the bright red bike, over the next five years I racked up 21,000 miles but in the summer of 1996 I hit a slick patch in a curve and wound up in the ditch, the bike flipped and went through a highway sign it had a perfect 4x4 dent in the fuel tank a broken mirror, the fairing was broken where the turn signal sits and the side air vent was tore up but both the bike and myself were alive.  I actually rode it home and began the tear down process.  Well then other things take priority and the bike gets forgotten about sitting in my Moms garage til 2005 when I moved to Arizona, I had the bike brought down and again stuck it in storage and forgot about it, fast forward to April 2012 when cleaning out the shed I decide that the time has come to do something with the poor old thing. Stay tuned for more in the near future... :good2:

Wow!! What an good intro... Welcome to the Kookaloo zone. The 86' is a good bike to make upgrades too, feel free to catch the Moditis going around. I now have 17" front and rear wheels with some other nice bits. Get her on the road and enjoy some miles. If you feel motivated join us in Porterville, CA at the end of the month for a rally.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

'86 Ambulance - Bent frame, cracked case, due for an overhaul
'89 Stormy Blue - Suits my Dark Side

Hi Steve:

It's great to find guys that share hobbies, The Charger has been my project for a lot of years, maybe some century I will finish it.  Its a 1970 R/T originally it was a FK5 but someone liked green in the Late 70's and repainted it, I have redone everything but the body and vinyl top, that's where the resto is at now.  I need to get back and working on it I had a bad cover on it and the moisture got under the vinyl and the rust is running rampant, but I have kind of lost interest in it so nothing gets done, it has a 440 automatic with 3:55 gears, I have the original numbers matching motor sitting in storage in Utah.  The interior has been redone and all drivetrain and suspension have been rebuilt, the 440 is a 69 HP2 that I had built when I was young and wanted a Hot Rod, it is extremely fast.  But now that summer is in full swing it just sits, I had hopes that the FJ project would go a little better but it is being a pain also, so we will see if I continue with it, I didn't even touch it this past weekend to many family obligations, well I have rambled enough I hope you have a great week.  :good2: :good2: :good2: :good2:

Burnt Orange is very cool color but a lot of the Mopar High Impact colors didn't last too long in the 70's mine was blue for a while from what I could tell.   It still looks good from the photo --good luck if I you have any questions I might be able to help too...if not me my buddies have a wealth of knowledge.

For the FJ -- a little knowledge their too but not as much as this site

Take care
