Clutch plates?

I'm not used to working on hydraulic cliches, I mean clutches.  I'm more a honda scrambler kinda guy, truth be known.  But if I can get this beast running...

The  84 FJ won't disengage when I pull the clutch lever.  I've bled the fluid and inspected the slave.  After cleaning, it appears worn but in tact with no damaged or warped gaskets, seals, etc.  The system is tight and the cylinder moves..  I can hear the rod move when it is assembled and refilled. In low gear, while on the stand, the back wheel is locked and won't move.   But in high gear, with clutch engaged, I get slight movement when I try to rotate the back wheel.  .  Today I will immaculately clean the master, but I have a hunch the issue is not there.

My questiin is, what does that clutch rod push into when I use the clutch? Is it possible the plate or whathaveyou is broken.  U done know.   If the clutch were bad id think it would work a little.

also the previous owner did not believe the clutch has been broken
I just do not know if the bar has, or the rod has punctured something on the other end...
is that feasible or is it more feasible that's my master and slave are fouled up?
also at the tip end of my slave piston there is just a dimple in the metal that the rod grooves into.  there is no gasket or peice to seat the rod in .. Like in the diagram(s) indicating #24 & #22.
if I get my clutch fixed 2 day I will donate 15 clams to the site! yes, bribery!

*IF* all the air is properly bled from the clutch line, and
*IF* the slave is tight, and
*IF* the master cylinder is pushing the full amount of fluid....

... then you have some stuck clutch plates. Common with bikes sitting for a long time.
Get a new gasket....pull the side cover....remove the spring and clutch pack, pull them apart and clean them.

If it has been sitting the clutch plates are probably stuck to the steels. You should be able to disengage the clutch and roll the bike back & forth to break them free.

The push rod pushes against, #26 (ball bearing) then #27 (push rod 1) which applies pressure to the bearing (#17) which is in the pressure plate (#12) which compresses the spring (14). ***make sure you are looking at the upper diagram***

thank you sirs for your kind replies.  I took apart the masters clutch cylinder and found it was a total wreck. I gotta rebuild but can't find a good cheap kit yet ...

I ordered the Master kit and it should be here today.  Last night I was up till midnight cleaning the bike, the cylinders, recharging the KN air filters, the chain,..  This bikes in great shape.  Garage kept its entire life with two owners - each of which put 11k miles on it..

So today is the big test... gunna put the parts in and we'll see what happens.

I am Jealous, an 84 with 11,000 mi.  While you are in there do the clutch upgrade, its easy and cheap.  Go to the homepage and the files section [bout 1/2 way down] click on clutch files, then click on clutch slipping post.  Excellent write-up thanks to the great members of this site. Easy to do and cheap.

I just read that post and its all greek to me.  Which option do you recommend of the three?
I am a novice with hydraulic clutch and FJ1100.
Oh, and the bike has 22,000mi... it had two owners who put 11k each on it, and kept it in the garage all its life.

Rebuild kit arrived (thanks Randy) but I can't figure the order.  I think I was missing the dimpled seal before?
Here's how I think it goes, but the manuals sketchy...  any help would be enormously appreciated.

The current kit I sell and you ordered is not for the 1100 and will not work. I have ordered the 1100 kit from my new Yamaha supplier and parts are starting to trickle in, but I have not received that kit yet.

I see another charge on my credit card so it might be in the box the shipped today, I will know on Saturday when I get back to the shop.

My Mistake, I got it from Powersports, not RPM.
I think this is how it goes together:

The order would be:
1,2,4,3,5,6,7,8

If this is wrong someone let me know because I'm gunna assemble it and test it!

That looks like the correct order and the rubber gaskets are correctly in.  The rubber gasket on the right in your pic should have had the slightly larger opening[hole] compared to the one on the left before you installed them.
Regarding the clutch upgrade, I removed the wire and a couple other parts on the inside, then added 1 wide plate at the inside of the clutch pack[replacing the narrow plate] and added another clutch spring[ Dennis Kirk part]. I went with Dennis Kirk [EBC part I think]cause it was cheaper and nearly doubled the spring pressure.   Randy at RPM has the Yamaha clutch spring if you think a few lbs. over the EBC part will make any difference.  If you figured out the clutch mc rebuild, you have in my opinion enough brain cells to do the clutch upgrade.
Besides everyone here will help you get it right.  And with your camera, no problem.
