Is it just me, or have we been getting hit with a rush of newbies jumping in, without an intro, asking their questions without any use of the seach feature of the site?

I like to help the next guy as much as I can, but shit, is it really that hard to search through the data base we have built up here?
I used the search long and hard in my early days here, and still do, from time to time.
More times than not, I DO find what I'm looking for.

Come on newbies....SEARCH and ye shall find your answer without pissing someone off.

Also, within 5 post, it would be nice to see an intro including roughly where you live/ ride, and what year FJ you ride.
With that info, you are sure to get more help than you'd ever imagined.

I'm done, continue on, and welcome!

If the newbies looked in the files and used the search function then they would never post or talk to the rest of us.  :wacko2:

there is a learning curve to getting around on this site and many just use it and never post anything.

So rather than just talking to the same people all the time It is a great relief when someone new takes the giant step into the fray and takes the hit .

go ahead and ask the questions , it keeps us on our toes.

Don't be skeert of the red power ranger.

A lot of times I have mails with questions or help requests due to my FJ web site

Usually the people is nice, present themselves and give thanks for the site. So It is a pleasure for me to answer them to try to help them and spend my time doing it

But there are people with mails like this

"Hello. I have a problem with... Say me where can I buy...?" Nothing else. No intros, nice words...

I don´t reply

FJTillDeath

The noobs have sorta done themselves in wrt the search function.

They posts so many topics that when one does a search a bunch of irrelevant info comes up. i do quite a few searches now and then and only come up with what Im looking for after a few attempts, sometimes I dont...

If you look at things statistically...

we have around 2000 members. The most online is around 150. Now even fewer than that post regularly - if at all. So it is nice to find new guys to chat to, though its best to chat to them in the "general discussion" etc boards to keep traffic in problem related posts to a minimun.

I will agree that it must be annoying to see the same question asked 5 times in a row by new people, but then again I have never really known this to be a social forum...could just be becuase I know none of yall personally

anyway that was my observations

I like the social part of the forum. And I laugh a lot of times with it... yes, Klavdy, I´m thinking of you  :i_am_so_happy:

I was going to ask my first question, but I got my answer  :bye2:

Just kidden :drinks: I've been lurking as a guest this past year. Since then I have aquired 2 FJ's an 86 street fighter and an 87 that is in rather good shape and main ride. I did a lot of "searching" on this site and it has helped greatly. You guys are a wealth of good info. I will now go back to sitting in a dark room keeping quiet. :boredom:. PS (first question) Did I use 2 many of the silly faces for my first post?

86 FJ Street fighter (I'll do an official intro post at a later date) :bomb:

I'd imagine there will be an influx every spring, as people are trying to figure out why their old bike, or the bike they just bought, doesn't run real well, or has other issues.

1tinindian

Don't get me wrong, a good way to get out and meet people on the forum IS to ask questions.

My opening  statement, in no way, was to deter people from posting. Rather to give us a proper intro, and do a little searching.
After all, there is a reason we have a files section and dedicated forums all able to be searched.

It would be hard to believe that with the age of these bike, the size of very knowledgeable people here that have performed actual work on these bike, that there is still a concern out there that hasn't been addressed.

I say, keep the questions pouring in newbies, but at the same time, realize that with a little investigating on you own, you can most likely find your answer, or at least lead you in the right direction.

This would come in handy if not many members were on and you needed an answer right away.

I have been known to dawn the mask from time 2 time...haha.

Put stainless lines on my front brakes yesterday after work and cured the mush feel. (I read about it here as a lurker). Went for a short ride and mush is gone...whoot whoot. When out with the bike I was awarded the Key To The City for foiling the Jokers plan.

Why does it look like batman is trying to kiss the joker in that last pic :shok:
