Hi! My name is Ryan and I live in Tulsa O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A, originally from Loveland, CO. I have been lurking, reading, learning and observing things all over this forum for over a year. I am the proud owner of a white 89 FJ1200 that (believe it) SWMBO bought for me 3 years ago this June. I got it with 9K on it and in under two years' time had put another 21K on it. It's stock except for Yoshimura 4into1 with jetting and K&N air filter. What a KOOKALOO inducing machine!
Currently, and since last April, she has been laid up in hospital (the bike, not SWMBO) after an intimate encounter with a metal guard rail after losing traction on a oft crashed-in-the-rain downhill curve here in Tulsa. There's so much left over oil and antifreeze on this section of road, I have since named it "Crash Hill" since ANYTIME there is a fresh rain, you will hear of that portion of roadway shut down to remove yet another damaged vehicle.  While picking myself (ATGATT, thank God) and my FJ-colored plastic parts off the road, I noticed all the OTHER plastic parts, turn signals, license plate frames, etc. strewn along the road.  I think I even saw Amelia Earhart's Ray-Ban Aviators over in the weeds on the other side of the guard rail. Anyway... The bike is close to being finished, new (to me) plastics on the way, Corbin GF&L added in for comfort, and have already replaced left footpeg, handlebars and fork tubes. (although I discovered a bent left lower slider once I got it all apart so now I'm searching for THAT.  :empathy3: Local salvage yard has a full set of slightly bent forks and triple clamps that I can fall back on. All the mods are planned for the future, as budget allows. Randy, you first. Those fork cartridges sound like the shizzay!
My first exposure the FJ goes all the way back to high school, working for the local Yamaha dealership. Man, was it AWESOME! I was always a dirt-bike rider but if EVER I got a street bike, it would be an FJ. I took a hiatus of motorcycle riding for about 14 years while the wife and I had 4 daughters, but the biker was still in the blood.  Well, my 1st streetbike wasn't an FJ, it was an '03 Roadstar. Good looking, but what a D.O.G! 1600 cc? Where? It was a good, mild bike for me to get my chops back, but with that bike, I've had my dose or "reproduction antique motorcycles."
Thank you all for your contributions and technical help. You're a blessing! (yeah you too, Klavdy. I love it when this guy  (popcorn) shows up after your postings. I gotta laugh) Hope to see any of you at a Rally someday or just in passing. Any other Okla area FJ-ers out there? KOOKALOO!

What a great intro Ryan,

How exactly does one pronouce O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A?

Everyone in Nevada kept wanting me to say KNEEEEEvada!  Instead of Nuh-vada..... One always needs to be aware of these things when travelling lest the situation become terse..... :good2:

I know you would fit right in at a rally (and have a dang good time).....

KOokaloo my friend!

Ryan, great into! You sound like you'll fit right in here.  I hope you come to the CO rally in June, so we can meet and compare red/white/silver-theft deterrent notes. (anything but those damn red/white ambulances!)

Welcome, this is a great place to get all the info you need to keep your FJ in top shape. Even if it is a Red and White.
