Jeff in his ever present searching/reading Craigslist found an '85 FJ1100 here in town. From the pics it looks ok. Since he knows I'm not going to buy a Honda, he saved the ad for me......So now the dilemma, do I go look at it? The guy is only asking $1000, but I would not buy it for that. It does need the brake master replaced and the clutch save needs to be rebuilt.

What do ya'll think?

Nancy,

I don't understand the  dilemma. Is your other fj down and broken? If so , you can always use another one.

Go check out the 1100 and buy it if checks out ok.

Mark,
No dilemma.....my '89 is running just fine. I think the SO is trying to infect me with his disease of "collector's anonymous".  I just don't know if I want to catch it or not. I'm right happy with my '89 and hopefully will get to do a few more things to it before the fall rally. IF I was to buy another bike it would be a fz6 or fz1.

But I may just go look at it and if it looks good and at least runs, buy it in case anyone on here needs it.

Only thing I would worry about is the 2nd gear issue.  If the clutch master and slave are not operable I wouldn't consider buying it.

Almost seems there is a reason they need to be replaced.  Covering something up perhaps?   :scratch_one-s_head:

Nancy,

I understand now, beware picking up extra bikes , they are like puppies that need a good home.

A extra bike is always good for visiting friends from far away to  come ride with you.

First I get the email that said the bike was sold. Then the guy calls to say that it wasn't sold. We went to look at it last night. Nope it's not pristine and it wouldn't start without being jumped. Has almost new tires on it. I told the SO if he thought he couldn't live without it, then it would only be worth about $600 to me. But that I thought he should pass on it. And something else I questioned, I sat on it and can almost flat foot it. That means something is wrong somewhere because my '89 I can only touch tippy toes.

Hopefully he'll make the right decision. I'd like to rescue it, but I don't want another bike. I have my bike.
