....... 200mph in the rain.... right!!  put the bikes on the Daytona track at 200mph, in the rain,... I don'nt think so!!
Maybe Nascar could race at 70mph, in the rain [like the bikes]............. I am sure the fans would enjoy that!!

Ever hear of MotoGP, or even WSB (Biaggi hit 334kph at Philip Island last week on his RSV4 superbike) these days.  There are lots of tracks they hit 200mph at, and they DO race in the rain.  I've never understood why US races get cancelled for rain.  Or motorcyclists who will cancel a trip just because of a little rain.

Several years ago, the Nascar Nationwide series ran a race in the rain on a road course.  Several drivers had issues because their windshields fogged up but it was interesting to see the cars in the rain.  Of course, Nascar could claim they do not race in the rain because of the fans (don't want to water down their beers)

Mostly NASCAR gets called for rain for the sake of the fans not being able to keep their beer dry, and for the spray making it harder to read the advertisements on the cars.

Also, because NASCAR sucks.  Whoda thunkit?

<Edit:  Warning, while you were typing someone else has posted... great minds and such.... hah!>

Considering last night's wreckfest, I don't think that's a concern.  What a letdown!      :boredom:

...... If you are not a Nascar fan, that's fine......... Maybe, your not American!!
But,[today] for a white, red blooded, middle age American male, that has a need for speed and is not gay.

and does not like American made race car racing,   there's something wrong!!

especially living on the east coast, the Carolina's, Virgina's and Kentucky area's.

Racing in the rain is like playing football in thr rain...... you are not at your best. Even tho, everyone is playing/racing by the same rules.

How about the fans......... the one's that show up!  Maybe, that's why some of the races are called off.

do not know about anyone one else, I am not going to put on my riding gear and go for a ride in the rain.

I saw part of the race before the Montoya crash and then a couple of hours later they had STILL not restarted it for the final 40 laps.  Did they ever restart and finish the race?  Who won?

As for those who don't go out in the rain..... News flash: You're not sweet enough to melt.

Cheers,

Yeah, wouldn't want to water down that Bud Light!! I think it's the rain itself that should be worried about getting watered down.
