I was getting around 38mpg's on that trip. Just from what I saw on the odometer and what the reading on the pump. I find it amazing that Mark is getting such insanely good mileage.

CraigO

I used to do similarly, until I did the jet kit & pod filters.     :unknown:

So with the jet kit and pods, I can expect to see mpg's go up into the mid to high 40's? I would like that a lot!!!! :dance2:

Mark, is your bike jetted or stock? From listening to your bike, I know that you have the stock airbox on her.

Thanks,

CraigO

Negative.       :negative:

My rally MPGs were very high, until I ditched the airbox.

Went from mid 40s to high 30s.

So just do the jetting leaving the airbox stock?

Not having tried that particular setup, I really can't say.

Not sure how much of the decrease can be attributed to entertaining myself with the pods honking all the time.

I do have F1r cans on it, but they didn't hurt the mileage with the airbox still on there at all.

hehe +1 on that.. I did pod filters and had an immediate increase in fuel consumption.. mainly due to the same problem - that induction roar sounds way too good!!

I know you were pushing it as hard as me so that's not a factor.... and I did witness the fill up --- same mileage my fill up was 3.88 gallons - Mikes 3.98 gallons and yours was 2.8 gallons.   You are in a different league.  I don't know if I would change anything -- gas mileage is good these days.   I would be keen on seeing your plugs to see how they are burning... lean or rich or just right.
I got this bike from an LA city motor cop, his off duty bike... As far as I know it is box stock other than the mods I have done. I still have the air box but switched to a K&N filter as the original was falling apart. My plugs looked good last time I pulled them, not too white and not too dark either. I was having fuel starvation issue years ago (needed a flapectomy) (before I knew about the FJ brotherhood) and a mechanic removed the CA emissions crap. Might be why I can run with the big dogs and not pay a big dog price.....

Wow - Craig -- you're right.  Good thing we went Saturday.   Hey Derek....does the last picture make you feel more at home.

I here we are expecting 80 degree temps this Saturday. So guess we should only ride on Saturdays.

It sure does Steve.  Its Been snowing here of and on the last few days too.  Not as much accumulation as in that pic mind you.  Tuesday night was a little dicey as I had to go over the ''hump'' to Port Alberni.  It was Hard to see with all the snow falling on top.

DEFINITELY not riding weather!

You know  -- I took a second look at the winter picture.... Craig --- I am not buying it....the cars look too old ( but then again it is Julian) ... are you sure the picture was from LAST Tuesday or Tuesday 1975...... I mean there is even a Camaro in the picture ; who would drive a 68 Camaro in that stuff now.

Muist agree, old pic, no Chevron left in Julian just good old Norms gas.

craigo

You caught me, Steve.

This is a file photo of Julian in snow, what I found on the internet after seeing news video of Julian on Tuesday.

Julian did look like this, however, and as close as I could get to what was broadcasted here. I used it just to illustrate how fast weather can change in our local mountains.

Sorry if this causes anyone any distress,  :flag_of_truce:
