Another great day - great ride.  No police escorts --- except for the poor Sportster that was pulled over that we saw just after a 4 car high speed pass.....

Thanks to Mark and Mike for making the trek down --- just an awesome time.  Craig thanks for meeting us as well.   Total Kilometers for the ride 334kms -- roughly 200 miles.   Oside to Palomar Mtn ... to Hideout ... Mesa Grande to Julian ...down Banner Grade to Borrego Springs -- back through Montezumas Grade to Santa Ysabel -- to Ramona ( bye to Craig) ... The Red and Whites leave to Oside via Highland Valley Road.

Some photos to share....

When she gets back I going to get her to let me on the Facebook site..... she'll say great finally off the FJ site.... then I will look and your pictures of our FJ ride ... that put her over the edge.  Haaaaaa

That's my favorite run guys, kudos! I'm still working on my '84, so hopefully I will have it ready for some shake down runs in March. Pat

Here are pics of all 4 of us on Palomar. How cool is that? You have to poke around to find yourself, but we are all there.

Steve and Mike, I did not get a receipt at one of the fill-ups but here are two of them. My average of 14 fill-ups (including these two) since June of 2011 is 49.4 MPG. I am really curious, I was not gentle on the throttle, I was staying with the pack but kicking ass on mileage. Not real important but now I have one more thing to stick your noses into..... I know, the price of the seat just went up.... I will throw in some moon boots to sweeten the deal... :sarcastic:

As long as you don't tell my 90... I love the 86 ..feels faster -- maybe the clutch is better or motor a little stronger or gearing slightly different. Probably all of them put together.  It is definitely faster than the previous 86 motor but then again I was always bypassing 2nd.  It pulls harder too in roll-on tests in 5th.  Its the bike I have had since 87 and if it didn't break 2 years ago I would still only have it.

I probably will still use the 90 more often though. It may develop the 2nd gear issue and I don't want to push it too hard.

I know you were pushing it as hard as me so that's not a factor.... and I did witness the fill up --- same mileage my fill up was 3.88 gallons - Mikes 3.98 gallons and yours was 2.8 gallons.   You are in a different league.  I don't know if I would change anything -- gas mileage is good these days.   I would be keen on seeing your plugs to see how they are burning... lean or rich or just right.

craigo

I was getting around 38mpg's on that trip. Just from what I saw on the odometer and what the reading on the pump. I find it amazing that Mark is getting such insanely good mileage.
