I just randomly came across this video on YouTube and I thought I'd share:

FJ1200 Hardtail Chopper

It is certainly not my cup of tea - but I was pretty impressed actually at the thought that went into it.  I have a feeling the builder may have been lurking around our forum...

that s pretty steep steering head angle for a chopper.... and not much of a butt pad to stop you from going off the back when the kookaloo comes.....

be interesting to watch it go around a corner.

That's what I was thinking. Nice build but that steep angle makes it look a little odd up front IMO.
Only a motorcyclist knows why a dog sticks its head out the window of a moving car.

I personally like individuality, I liked this bike so much that I saved it for future use.
I wished it was mine.I like thinking outside the box, and bobbers with bad ass engines.
Why does everyone in the group insist on going around corners as fast as the throttle will allow?
And it sounds awesome as well.

That "thing" sound like all the Honda/import cars around here with their fart can exhausts. I'd like a bobber with a inline 4 too, but not lose the sound of the inline 4. Nice job, but I have seen nicer jobs done to the bobber bike of all time, the XS650.

And FJs are the original super bike that's why we go around corners fast, and that we can.

Sometimes the box it there for a reason.

As Jeff Hoffman so eloquently put it all the many years ago: "Any NIMROD can twist a throttle.  It takes SKILL to ride a curvy road at speed."

No offense to our draggers, it also takes a ton of skill to cut a good light and time.  I'm referring to the worthless hoard of "custom choppers" that every nimrod seems to be building lately with a 300+ rear tire.  I'm seen 18-wheelers cut a tighter turn.  I actually saw one guy run on to the median while trying to make a simple right turn onto a 3-lane road.  Yeah, I want one of those....

When I was talking about wide open throttles around corners I meant being in the oncomin' lane with your head an inch or two from the pavement.
Last thing I'm goin' to do is havin' to polish my dentures after each ride I take. I was viewin' some of the groups videos submitted and my adrenaline was pumpin' sittin' in the lazy-boy
Some of those mountain rides (with long drop-offs on the other side, cornerin' wide-open and driftin' in the other lane had me lettin' off on the lazy-boys throttle a little.
But I don't mean to stir up bee's around here (I'm a rookie on a FJ 1200 sport bike) so I understand where you veterans are comin' from.
I just don't want to have to read about one of my fellow club members bein' scraped off the road (from cornerin' in the on-comin' lane) or goin' over the side of a mountain due to excessive throttle.
But enough out of my newbie-rookie mouth, ya'll are the experts!
Who knows maybe when I get real familiar with my bike I'll be passin' you in the corners.

If you compare this group to any other group out there, you'll find that we are far more conservative.  That in no way implies that we are necessarily slow.  You can have a spirited and SAFE ride that's more than enough fun if you follow the proper riding technique and rules.

If you saw any video of someone in this group running wide in corners, that sholld be the very rare exception rather than the rule.  We have very comprehensive safety rules that are discussed before every ride at a rally.  No one is pressured to ride over their head. 

It's really something you need to participate in to know the full extent of how safety conscience the group actually is.  These guys taught me how to ride safely AND fast.  Something I continue to stress with my local group of riders.

Also, I know you're just learning you way around here, but passing in corners is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN!
