Pingel Valve, Controlling It

After I got my 1985 fJ1100 back from a shop where they rebuilt the carbs, had the tank boiled, installed new tires, chain and sprockets (yeah, I went all out for 2011) I came up with a way to control the pingel valve by only having to remove the seat since removing the left side panel is not what I wanted to have to do.

This is a pretty simple trick and nothing has to get cut or be modified.  I slipped (with great effort since the tank was in place) a rubber stopper over the end of the valve "handle" and hooked through the stopper is a steel rod that passes by the air box and is easily actuated once the seat is removed.  Note this in the pictures.  It is not fancy but it was cheap and it will work.  The valve can easily be shut all the way "off" and to turn it "on" it does not have to be all the way in the actual "on" position, just slightly past the "straight out" position as viewed from the left side of the bike.

The stopper really can't come off and the rod does not interfere with anything, so I am happy with this since getting my fingers on the pingel to turn it off from the full "on"  position is almost impossible and this is nice and clean.

(I have grown weary trying to figure out why I cannot attach my pictures.  I did it in the past and maybe I will figure it out again, but I don't know what the deal is tonight.  There are no account options to allow it and I don't see the option here-it is not under "Additional Options" so I give up for now)

Thanks Curt! Where are the pictures now? Can you get them over to the Gallery? If so, then I can modify your post and insert your picts.

I would like to see your solution. It sounds inventive.

If you get tired of pulling your seat (cumbersome with sidebags) here is the vacuum shut off you can add to your Pingel.

I put a pingle on 2 years ago

I took the rubber grommets out and I slightly pull out the side cover to:

Pull and push the chock on my flat slides and to turn on and off my pingle

If it's not broken, fix it anyways
