As of the time of this post we are at 1996 members. An even 2000 would be a cool way to start 2012, huh?   Thank you Marsh, thanks guys!  :good2:

I see an anomaly in the reported number of users on this forum:

When you look at the statistics page, it lists (as of this moment) 1999 users. When you click on the "1999" and list the users in tabular format, it displays "Viewing Members 1 to 60 (of 1948 total members)" in the upper part of the screen.

That would make it _52_ new members we need before the new year, right?

Which statistic is the RIGHT one?

Good question.  When someone registers an account on this forum they must submit an actual e-mail address - then they must click a link from an e-mail they receive to become active and able to actually post.  This is an anti-spam measure.  There are currently 32 people who have not clicked the link on the e-mail they received to activate their account.  Most are probably spammers - though it is apparent that some are actual motorcycle guys (with motorcycle related names in their e-mail addys).  The lower number is the people who can actively post - the higher number is everyone who has signed up.  I periodically go through and send reminder e-mails to people in case they overlooked the activation e-mail.  After a few months has gone past I delete them and thus the member count becomes lower.

Marsh, When Irish got booted or when someone drops out do they get removed from the count?

When someone deletes their account they are removed from the member count.  When someone is banned they remain as a member - just as a banned member - that way the system has their information to keep them off of the website.  I only think 1 (or maybe 2?) actual people have ever been banned.
