I figure I should say hello, since I'll be hangin around.I picked up a nice 1989 FJ1200 for a good price recently.I tried the v-twin cruiser ride and it was okay, but I missed the superior braking and acceleration of a big bore sport bike. I've owned big bores in the past so I guess it's in the blood.
So for I've learned alot about the FJ from previous posts, and enjoy reading the info available.
Currently I'm picking some parts,(as some of you already know) to get the bike ready for the spring.
Up in Canada here,we already have snow,so nothing more to do but wrench on the bike.
Thanks. Ride safe :drinks:

Hello there, Canada eh  :yahoo: nice to see your introduction in a most sociable way. :good2:
I'm a relative newbie to the forum but one thing that get's my goat is an ignorant openning post.
That said, you'll find all the info you need here from some very knowledgable people.
Look forward to reading your posts and a picture of your bike.
By the way, you're still not having those brake rotors off me.
All the best.  :hi:

Welcome aboard from a fellow Canadian and ex Winipegger. After a "rocky" start youv'e made amends and introduced yourself. You'll find plenty of info and help on this site. Throw some loonies Marsh's way and maybe you will be elevated to "Dirty Seppo Bastarard Canadian" status.
In regards to your brake rotors, I've been running the Chinese ones for about 6'000 kms. without any problems. The front ones ran me about $200.00 ca. including shipping.
If you require any info on them just pm me.  Hein.
What do you mean, you don't have a lathe?

Thanks everyone.I'm looking foward to the FJ and people who know them. :good:

Hi there Frank,

That didn't hurt too much.  Welcome aboard.   :good2:

I have a set of OEM rotors that are a bit worn but are in spec, I think.  I got a great deal on a set of EBC rotors and that leaves the OEMs leaning against the garage wall.

I don't have a caliper to measure the wear, but the FJ had 34K on the clock when I swapped the rotors.  If you want some pics, let me know.  We'll go from there.

Merry Christmas,

CraigO

Aside from not keeping him from a low side in the grass at the WCR last year (FYI, Don't perform throttle Blip tests in the grass while in gear) I think they will work. What source do you have?
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Morning Wizard.

I've put about 8,000 km. on the Chinese rotors without any issues. Braking action is great, no pulsing, can't detect any wear and the black anodizing on the aluminum carriers is still black which is unusual for offshore anodizing.

Hein.
