exhaust limits

I took my cans off this afternoon and was think of installing a baffle into the collector outlets and cover that up with an exhaust tip.The collector outlet pipes are 1.75" OD, seems like a baffle in those pipes would restrict the exhaust too much??What do you think?

I have no idea what you're talking about.  You description is confusing.  You want to install a baffle in the collector, but you think installing a baffle in the collector will be too restrictive.  Didn't you just answer your own question?  I would thinkit depends on what kind of "baffle" you're considering.

Do you intend on leaving the mufflers off?  You're going to have to be a little more specific and descriptive.

Sorry old sloooow guy...jk yes i want to leave the cans off of the bike because they work too well ( too quiet). The open exhaust at the collector outlets is too loud. So i found some cheap 4 inch (long) baffles on ebay that will fit into the collector outlets, but I'm afraid that a baffle in those 1.75" pipes may be too restrictive. And yes Harvey that is exactly what I was thinking!

Curt, yea, I know what you mean.
You want to slip a baffle on your collector outlets......hmmmm slip a baffle on....slip on,  yea, that's it!!  You want some slip ons!
Cobra F-1R slip ons fit your description and they are LOUD. They are getting hard to find....(Thanks again David)

You wanna make your own? Are you good at welding? See the angle of the collector box outlets? You can not use a straight baffle pipe or they will be sticking out the sides of your bike. You could make your own by putting angle bends in the baffle to tuck it under your side frame along with welding a support tab where you want it. You do not want to expect to support the baffle just by the pipe clamps around the collector outlets, you need a support tab to carry the weight.

Packing material: The problem with slip ons and almost all aftermarket baffles, is that after time the fiberglass packing blows out the baffle.

This is what Staintune uses in their lifetime baffles. Wear gloves 'cause that shit is sharp. (ouch)

maybe a larger diameter pipe will give you the sound your after, say 2.5 inch slip on , maybe in carbon fiber ,made mine sound sweet

Hey Pat,
Have you installed those Cobras yet or are you still polishing on them?  Did they need to be repacked?  I remember them being fairly loud when I took them off.
