I'd personally take the stance that what they don't know won't hurt them, especially since several rally-goers ride long distances to be at a rally.

OTOH, it would likely take an unlawful search for them to find out.    :hang1:

Yesterday I finaly got to look at the motor.Pulled the cams and looked them over.
Exhaust cam was scored up a bit from the bearing cap.Someone had stripped some threads in the head and put oversize studs in which didn't align the bearing cap with the cam properly.I fixed that with a round file.I have 2 sets of extra cams but they dont look so great either so probably will use cams from one of my bikes instead.Went back today and did a practice cam install just so I know what im doing.

I need to get some of that fancy grease for the cams some new feeler gauges as the old set is rusty in spots.
Also need 2 exhaust studs a handfull of bolts for the clutch cover and cases.I need to pull the cam tensioner from one of my bikes and put that in as the one i used today has no adjuster bolt.Same with the pick up and rotor that will be from the 85 as thats where the motor is going.Clutch was mising bolts and spring which I replaced with some I had from the 86.Im not sure what type of clutch plates are in there I might go back to oem as I have a set I can use.

Motor has 1250 cylinders and cases are marked 3S 006 and P5030-000150.
I did see that the clutch push rod was longer than the one from the 86 FJ1200.(I think that means I need a diferent clutch cover)
I have not opened up the cases yet to see why it lost oil pressure.I do have a extra oil pump if that's whats needed.

Mark what clutch plates are in there and were you using a stock spring set up or an aftermarket one.

I have a double spring set up in the 85 and an aftermarket set up in the 90 I like the double spring better so probably will go with that.Im leaning towards fixing this motor.
