Lower Exhaust Gaskets and Silencer Hanger Bolt

I need help finding a couple parts. These are two silly little things that don't often need replacing.

#1) I need the four exhaust gaskets that go between the header pipes and the collector box. Randy at RPM doesn't carry them because he said people usually just reuse the old ones. Mine turned to dust when I pulled the collector box off. Anybody have a set that are holding together? I'm not trying to make a show bike here, just keep my exhaust gasses in place. Does anyone know of a supplier for them? I think Yamaha has them listed for $17 each! I could carve them from a block of gold for cheaper!

#2) I need the hanger bolt for the right silencer. I assume the left one is the same. It's the bolt that attaches the silencer to the bike. It's a hex head. Mine is rusted in so I stripped it trying to get it out. If anyone knows where to get a nice stainless steel replacement that would be cool too.

Slowly getting it together for some spring rides! Thanks everybody!

I know, I know, I already posted this (or something similar) in "Parts Wanted" but I didn't get any replies and I KNOW someone out there knows where to get these gaskets!

David,
Try boats.net for the gaskets, also look up the bolt there as well. The part number is a derivative of the size required.

David R has posted the formula on here somewhere; from there I can get you a new bolt and send it back with the pan.

David,

Look at Wemoto here in the UK:

http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/Yamaha/FJ_1200_3XW_Type/91-96/

gaskets £5.26 = $8.13 ea

I get my stainless from Tek Hardware

Unfortunately UK only

Thanks Randy and Stuart.

Randy, I measured the bolt, here's what I get.
Length - 1.8275 inches. I think 2 inches would be fine.
Thread - 1.25 (according to my die and tap set thread measuring took that I barely understand, but the threads fit).
Head - 6mm hex head. You told me to give the size of the wrench that fits on it. It's an allen head bolt.

Boats.net has the gaskets for $13 each. The UK Place is $8 each. I need all 4. Which do you think will be cheaper after shipping?

Thanks again!

(I'm really surprised no one has extras of these sitting around!)

Hi All,

I found an exhaust gasket on ebay for $10. Cheaper then anywhere else. The numbers are different from the microfiche. Can anyone tell me if this will fit either between the headers and the collector box, or between the collector box and the silencers?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NOS-Yamaha-FJ1100-FJ1200-FZX700-Silencer-Gasket-/150439081554?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2306de3652#ht_500wt_956

Thanks again!

I might be riding by next weekend!

David,

My parts book gives:

3XW-14755-00 as the downpipe to collector gasket
3XW-14714-00 for the collector to silencer gasket

3XW is the code for '91+ FJs thus 14XXX is the part No. So yes I think that's the part you seek.

To check you could ask the seller for dimensions.
